BLUES FESTIVAL The *5th Annual Harvest Moon
Blues Festival" features two days of the best blues,
zydeco and bluegrass music around. Music starts on

Band. Things start back up on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 12

FACULTY RECITAL The UGA School of Musk presents
a faculty recital performance by pianist Martha

RICHIE HAVENS The Lyndon House Arts Center pre
sents legendary sinqer Richie Havens in concert All
proceeds benefit the Lyndon House Arts Foundation,
Inc. This “First Annual Celebration,* celebrating the
first anniversary of the renovated a»ts complex, fea
tures a concert by Havens, with the Common People
Band at the Morton Theatre on Friday, Sept. 15 at 8
p.m. On Saturday, Sept 16 the Lyndon House hosts a
silent auction, reception for the Richie Havens

UGA SYMPHONY The first installment in this season's

EDWARD WRIGHT FESTIVAL The Second Annual
Edward Wright Memorial Afrocentric Festival takes
place this weekend. See schedule of events on this
page. This event is designed to celebrate the
“beauty and power of African-American culture" and
community and features local African-American
leaders speaking out in between a variety of gospel,
blues, wip hop and other musical acts. All members

FILM FESTIVAL The Short Attention Span Film and
Video Festival returns to Athens with more than 60

HEALING ARTS CENTRE The grand opening celebra
tion of the Healing Arts Centre and Sangha Yoga
Studio begins with inspired movement to live
imprcvisational music on Friday, Sept 8 at 8:45

Saturday, Sept 9 from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Later
in the afternoon, members of popular band Squat

AIR FORCE BAND The Classic Center presents the Air
Force Reserve Band in concert. This 43-piece
ensemble is the largest and most versatile unit of the
Band of the United States Air Force Reserve and has
traveled all over the world, performing with the likes
c ( Bob Hope, Faith Hill and Crystal Gayle. Patrons are

ANOUSHKA SHANKAR Trained by her father, leg
endary sitar virtuoso and composer Ravi Shankar,

unique Indian music, accompanied by two tabla

JAZZ & BLUES SAMPLER The Moore's Ford Memorial
Committee presents a “Jazz & Blues Sampler" fea

Moore's Ford Bridge, the Moore's fold Memorial
Committee is dedicated to promoting justice and
