FRIGHT FOR SIGHT The 14th Annual Fright For
Sight Haunted House: "Phobias.'’ presented by the
Athens Lions Club, is always the highlight of the
Halloween season. Not for the kiddies (in fact no
one under 12 admitted), this creepy collection of
monsters, ghosts and chainsaw-wielding maniacs
takes up residence in a new location this year—a
creepy old warehouse off Chase Street. That's
30,000 sq. ft. of howling terror—all for a good
cause. All proceeds from ticket sales benefit the
Lions Club's sight and hearing charities. 1150 N.
Chase St. (under the old water tower) now
through Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 7 p.m. to 12
midnight, open 'til 2 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 and
Saturday, Oct. 27. Please note: you must be in the
parking lot 90 minutes before closing to get in.
Admission: S8. (Come with three cans of food for
the Athens Area Food Bank and get SI off at the

MALL SCARINESS As if going to the mall isn't
already scary enough, you can visit Embassy
Underground’s Christian haunted house, which
promises to "scare the HELL out of you!" Georgia o
Square Mall (across from Piccadilly in the old 5
movie tiieater) on Oct. 26, 27 and 31 from 8 p.m. §

TO
OCTOBER COUNTRY Families can leave the tots at
home and head for the historic Seney-Stovall
Chapel for some ghostly tales of the season. The
chapel will host an evening of haunted story
telling and music. Evan Michael Bush >, Jackie
Eisner, Kelly McGlaun Fields and Mike Marsingill
will share spooky tales for the older set. Live
music provided by Mamie Fike Simonds. All pro
ceeds go to the Athens Clarke County Lit ary's
"Stitching Stars Storytelling Festival," se: to pre
miere in March, 2002. Seney-Stovall Chapel on

HORROR AND BOOZE Catch a classic horror film at
Flicker Theatre this week, such as Dracula with
Bela Lugosi (1931) on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 8:30
p.m. Or check out The Bnde of Frankenstein (1935)
with Bons Karloff and Elsa Lanchester on Monday.

MASQUERADE The Athens Area Arts Council is
sponsoring " A Masquerade Soiree," its first major
fundraising event. Attendees are encouraged to
wear "artfully decorated" attire. There will be tons
of refreshments, doorpn2es and live entertainment
from the Georgia Guitar Quartet and jazz group
Mojado. Lyndon House Arts Center on Thursday,

BOOBUTANTE The Boybutante AIDS Foundation
presents its first-ever "BOObutante" Halloween
party. Tasty World will become "Heaven" upstairs
and "HeH" downstairs. Up in Heaven, the ever
fabulous Deonna Mann spins some of her favorite
tunes as she hosts the "Martini & Cigar Bar.
Down in Hell, the evening kicks off with "Bolan
Alley: A Tribute to T Re*" featunng members of
local band Boulevard Then join Sasha and all her
naughty girls for a Halloween-themed drag show
At 12 midnight, hellraisers can compete in the
costume contest for over S600 in cash and prizes
for Best Drag, Best Themed and Best Costume of
the Night The EvH TJ rounds out the night with
a dance party in Hell All proceeds go to the
Boybutante AIDS Foundation Tasty World down
town. on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 9 p.m to 2

DANCE WITH THE DEVIL Local artist and tattoo
king Watson Atkinson (with special guest Deonna
Mann) presents his macabre performance art piece
"Confessions of the Emperor Worm," backed up by
local talents Heather McIntosh, Tony Evans and
Craig Lieske. Costume contest with over $600
worth of prizes. Punk outfit Exit 86 follows, and
the ineffable (and ear-splittingly loud) Jucifer
headlines the evening. The 40 Watt Club on
Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 9 p.m. Admission: $5.
THIS IS SPINAL TAP? AMF hosts this crazy bash
featuring The Fountains vamping it up as various
'80s girl bands (think Joan Jett, Go-Gos, Bangles).
The Fuzzy Sprouts headline in a special concert of
all Spinal Tap songs. Costume contest with cash

town on All Hallow's Eve and watch the freaks go
by. Then again, if you happen to be a freak, here

NO TRICKS JUST TREATS The Library is offering up
"One Spooky Night." on Thursday, Oct. 25 when
kids can trick or treat throughout the Library for
non-food treats from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The
evening also includes a double feature Halloween
Shadow Puppet Show at 7:30 p.m. FREE! The
Halloween Puppet Show will be performed again
on Friday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m.
HAUNTED BIKE PARADE The whole family can
join in the first ever Haunted Bike Parade. Wear
your costumes and join in the Halloween
Courteous Mass with the friendly alternative trans

FAMILY FEST The GMOA hosts its Family Day
Haunted Fall Festival. Tour a special art exhibi
tion on haunted houses and other spooky scenes,
featuring art from the museum's prodigious col
lections. Then create your own miniature

PUMPKIN CARVING Families with kids 12 and
under are invited to a Fumpkin Carving Workshop.

a.m., come dressed up for a spooky storytime
and then trick or treat throughout the store.

S.O.S. DAY The Nature Center hosts the second
annual Scary, Oozy, Slimy Day. Hang out with all
the icky, creepy, spooky critters you care to—like
bats, gators, hissing cockroaches and more. Kids
can come in costume and compete for pnzes.

GOBLIN RUN Sandy Creek Nature Center and St.
Mary's present the 1st Annual 4 Mile Jack-0-
Lantern and 1 Mile Fun Run. A costume contest
