DON
Athens Creative Theatre presents a
musical retelling of the chivalrous
adventures of Don Quixote in Mon of j"
La Mancha, composed by the creative i
team of Mitch Leigh, Joe Danon and
Oak Wasserman. In this play within a play, Cervantes (author of the original Quixote manuscript)
faces the wrath of the Inquisition and his fellow prison cellmates, who decide to hold a mock
trial to dispose of his possessions. In his defense, Cervantes spins a tale about the fabled Don
Quixote, enlisting the other prisoners as players in the enfolding saga (think The Adventures of
Boron Munchausen on fewer drugs). The knight errant is ridiculed by everyone around him,
though Ms high moral ideals win over more than one heart.
HANK
Winning over the hearts of many is the mission of King Henry the Fifth, as Town ( Gown pre
vents a modern retelling of Shakespeare's famous history Henry V. The Archbishop of Canterbury
convinces the newly crowned king to Lay claim to France. After eliminating traitors and sanc
tioning forces to protect his interests white overseas Henry's greatly outnumbered army lands in
France, where a battle at Agmcourt decides the ruimhip of the two countries for yean to come.
Henry V boasts some of the Banfs greatest speeches (including Henry's St. Crispin's Day speech)
and most memorable characters.
Both plays run from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28. See Out There listings for time and
location. (Geoff Carr]
