South Dakota native Rachel Ries cur
rently lives in Chicago, where she's
been honing her take on music Irom
the 1920s and '30s Jazzy and with a
vintage kind of poetry, her newest al
bum is last year's For You Only and has
drawn comparisons to Billie Holiday
and Mississippi John Hurt. 8pm
RED LEGS (little Kings) Jesse
Thompson. Andrew Houston and Aaron
Bums last month made their debut as
Red Legs, promising to "blend Swedish
harmonies, neat instrumentation and
sunshine into sounds similar to The
Kinks, Nada Surf and The Get Up
Kids—it's kind of like kissing in a can

2001 under the name Catharsis, this
Long Island. NY retro-metai band says
on its website. "Shatterpoint's music
has been created through a mutual ad

SLEEPY HORSES (Tasty World) The
local live-piece of Nic Goodson. Brandi
Goodson. Kyle Harris. Jim Wilson and
Matt Stoessel specializes in all-ccuntry
rockers and feedback- and loop-laced
shoegazey soundscapes. Tonight s a

SOL DRIVEN TRAIN (Amici) From
South Carolina comes Sol Driven Train,
a six-piece act jamming out on soul,
reggae, jazz and folk tones, weaving
strands pulled Irom Stevie Wonder, the
Waiters and the Band into a swampy,
smooth Southern stew
SONS OF SAILORS (Melting Point)
The Tony Pntchett Band—guitarist-
vocalist Pritchett, harmonica player
