rock trio.
MORNING STATE (Caledonia) The
debut EP from former Athens act
Morning State is called Retreat!!!. a
disc that's intricate and energetic, and
lives easily in both indie-rock and
mainstream camps.
MR. BROWN (Chapel) Deejaying hip-
hop tunes with a more upbeat, dancier
vibe than his Wednesday gigs Every
Friday and Saturday night.
ONE L (The Globe) Local Guitarist
Philip Kohnen (ex-Boone Dog Trio)
brings his love of Cuban music to the
stage with his “little big band' featuring
an Afro-Cuban rhythm section, searing
horn lines and a distinct approach to
electric guitar.
POSITRAXION (The Globe) Featuring
heavily finger-picked electric guitars,
this new local band draws on classic
rock and roll sounds and features a
none-too-subtle Dire Straits influence.
RACHEL PRIDDY (Saving Grace)
Soulful acoustic folk-rock at the restau

TIMBER (SchoolKids Records) Last
year's full-length album from the local
alt-country band is called Dark Heart. .

JEFF SOILEAU (Bischero) Athens
musician Jeff Soileau (pronounced
“swallow") performs New Age finger-
style acoustic guitar, drawing from in
fluences Michael Hedges. Phil Keaggy
and the Beatles. He's playing at the
Bottleworks Italian eatery from 6:30 to
9:30 p.m. every Sunday this month.

hip-hop duo of Atmosphere—emcee
Sean “Slug" Daley and producer
Anthony "Ant" Davis—combines
introspective lyricism with slice-of-life
vignettes. Atmosphere is currently on
its “Everybody Loves A Clown" tour,
promoting Sad Clown Bad Summer
and Sad Clown Nice Fall the newest in
a series of short-release albums. The
next full-length studio album When Life
Gives You Lemons... hits in early 08.

hop trio Grayskul is comprised of
emcees Onry Ozzborn and JFK (of the
Oldomimon collective) and bassist
Rob Castro. Deadlivers. the debut full-

Canibus. Aesop Rock and Mr Lit.
KILL LEBARON (Tasty World) First
known as October Falls, and then
known as Sincerely Yours, but now
known as Kill LeBaron, this local hard
core/ screamo five-piece should have
some CD-R copies of recently recorded
demos for sale
LOST ART (Tasty World) With some
recently wrapped sessions at the DARC
studio, this young local four-piece is
developing a hard-charging raw rock
sound, adding a metallic texture to
sounds developed by Soundgarden
and Nirvana
