The Lolligags,
Andy From Denver
Go Bar
f V '' V*v t , -A/;
There was a tot
of antidpation back
in October about the
debut shew from the
Lolligags, whose EP
Wired has caught the
ears of Athenians and
those in the great wilds
beyond our little town.
Mystery, imagination and veiled, vaguely remembered suggestions from a brief interview
in Flagpole at the end of last August alt combined to intrigue just as much, if not more,
than any known commodities would, and, despite the lack of animat costumes, living
props or even any actual candy, the band lived up to what was hoped.
Each side of the stage bore a large plexiglass lightbox with a giant red-and-white-
swirled lollipop emblazoned on it, a strong statement about the importance of candy.
The band's combination of cute and vidous (sweet faces, a fondness for pink, but a
high libido and an abiding rage at ordinariness) was borne out, as singer Leslie Dallion
growled into the microphone, making eye contact and taking control, while Ryan Breegle
moved among guitar, keyboard and comfJliter without missing a beat.
Some people would consider it an insult to say "they sound just like the record," but
they do. The show was brief, and the second one was, too, so be prompt or you might
m : 's it. Bouncing and dandng were both present, and, although Dallion and Breegle are
still figuring out what to do onstage, they do know that it's required they do something.
If they get well-practiced at this sort of thing, it seems quite possible that they'll take
over the world, considering how polished their initial appearance was. [Hillary Brown]
