ent we have in this little music town,
and the 14th Annual Flagpole Athens
Music Awards is all about honoring
the best of the bunch. Enjoy a rare ■
chance to hear iive music in the beau
tiful, historic Morton Theatre as bands
and fens alike gather for art evening of
accolades and entertainment.
Flagpole Magazine, Athens’ after
native newsweekly and fee placa to
learn about live music in Athens, puts
together a panel of judges to nominate
bands in 20+ categories Including
best rock band, hip-hop act, live band,
upstart act and more. The judges
include music journalists, talent buy
ers, fe'tow musicians and other folks •
who are active in fee scene. Once fee r
nominees are printed, Flagpole opens
voting up to its readers. After a month
of campaigning and social networking,
the ballots are all in and the winners
will be announced live at fee fee Mor
ton on Thursday.
. But feat's only part of fee fun! Like
any proper awards shows, audience
members can expect to be dazzled by a wide -
variety of live entertainment. The tastemakers of
Flagpole have a gift for putting together a lineup
feat’s as surprising as it is eclectic—unearthing
hidden gems and putting a spotlight on tong-time
favorites as well.
This year's featured acts include Motown legend
Ike Stubblefield. You could wallpaper fee Morton
