REMARKS.
The people of Georgia should arouse
from their lethargy nnd make a forward,
quick movement. First, use every ef
fort to make the State Fair at Macon a
success, and then work ty,Lave Georgia
fully represented at the Exposition in
New Orleans.
The Baltimore Trade Journal is a val
uable auxiliary to tbe financial and com
mercial interests of Baltimore and re
flects great credit upon its editor, pro
prietors and the city. We wish it great
success.
It is for the people to say whether the
fair fame of Georgia shall be tarnished
by having no suitable exhibition at tbe
"World’s Exposition in New Orleans or
not. Let the people rally to tbe support
of the State Agricultural Society.

Take him all in all,” rays "The Au
gusta, (Ga.) Chronicle and Con
stitutionalist," "BILL ARP is the
GREATEST AND BEST HUMORIST in the
country, and he grows better as he grows
older. Fontcnelle’s great regret at dying
was loss of strawberries. We believe that
Governor A. H. Stephens desired to sur
vive Bill Arp, so as to lose none of his
communications, which he enjoyed be
yond description."
In our opinion there are two kinds of
humor, that of fancy and that of common
sense. The former Is ephemeral, it pleas
es for a moment and then evaporates.
The latter is permanent, it appeals with
genial force through the pleased under
standing to the instructed heart. "BILL
ARP” has this golden vein of common
^nse developed to s fine degree. Out
or this subsoil of common sense and com
mon experience spring the homely but
FRAGRANT FLOWERS OF HIS HUMOR.
They are not brilliant exotics but they are
indigenous; they enlighten the com
mon EVERY DAY LIFE OF MEN and
moreover possess a directively fornlclal
coloring. The humor and philosophy of
it Is, however, cosmopolitan; in the form,
the peculiarities of its phraseology. IT IS
DISTINCTIVELY SOUTHERN, which gives
to "At p’s” perennial humor a unique
AND ATTRACTIVE CHARM.
