will host the Ninth Annual
Taste of Savannah®:
JAZZ...the Soul Ingredient,
presented by

on Friday, February 20, 2009
from 7 to 10pm at the
Savannah International
Trade and Convention
Center.
This night out for adults
is sure to satisfy your soul
and jazz your taste buds with
the finest ingredients in
town! Taste the best that
Savannah has to offer at this
annual affair. Taste of
Savannah® is a showcase
featuring Savannah's most
exceptional restaurants and
caterers each serving sam
ples of their favorite menu
items. Entertainment will be
provided by Jeremy Davis
and The Equinox Jazz
Orchestra and Moon River
Productions. There will be
cash bars and a raffle for fab
ulous prizes. Cocktail attire
encouraged.
Culinary experts will
judge the food and awards
will be presented by Georgia
Power, R&R Restaurant

Taste of Savannah® serves
as the largest annual
fundraiser for the Tourism
Leadership Council, a non
profit professional associa
tion that provides resources
to businesses in the hospital
ity industry. The organiza
tion's mission is to provide a
unified group with commit
ted leadership pledged to
promote, protect and serve
the interests of the tourism
and hospitality industries of
the greater Savannah area.
Proceeds from the
event will be directed to the
programs of the TLC, includ
ing scholarships for college
students pursuing hospitality
careers, workforce develop
ment initiatives, networking
opportunities for industry
professionals, educational
seminars for industry
employees and an emer
gency fund available for
members in times of crisis.
General admission tick
ets for the event are $50.
VIP Tickets are $75. VIP
tickets include 6:30pm early
admission to the event, a
reserved VIP seating area
and butler passed samplings.

Chatham Retired Educator
Association Meeting
The last meeting of the
Chatham Retired Educator
Association was held in
December, 2008. There was
no meeting held in January,
2009. President Hugh
Golson presided at the
December meeting. The spe
cial guests were Dr. Deonne
Stone, principal of A.E.
Beach High School, the cho
rus and its director, Mr Kirk.
The renditions enhanced the
festive season.
Dr. Stone talked about
the past, present and future
status of the Beach High.
She reiterated that all con
cern students, parents and
community have a stake in
successfully making Beach
the greatest Medical Magnet
School ever. An appeal was
made and a total of $635.00
was collected to help some
of the chorus students attend
the inauguration of President
Barack Obama.
The Scholarship
Committee will award
Scholarships of $500.00 in
honor of one of our late com
rades, Mr. Dewey Lee. This
award goes to any rising
Junior or Senior who gradu
ates in Teacher Education
from one of the Savannah-
Chatham County universi
ties. To qualify, the student
will need to contact retired
educator, Mrs. Mary F.
Shank, at (912) 233-9993.
