Kelly Receives Third Degree Sports with Walter Moore
At the
University of Phoenix
Commencement
Ceremony held on
Sunday, May 17, 2009,
at the Savannah
International Trade
Center, LaToya M.
Kelly received a
Masters of Business
Administration Degree
(MEA) graduating with
a GPA of 3.65.
Family and friends
were all in attendance to
witness this historical
event. A 25-year-old native
of Savannah, Georgia,
LaToya is a first generation
college graduate who has
received a total of three
degrees.
Latoya M. Kelly
Ms. Kelly is also a
license Embalmer in the
State of Georgia and has
worked for various firms in
Savannah, Georgia.
Currently, LaToya is
employed at Carver State
Bank as the Operation’s
Assistant.
LaToya is the daughter
of Carol M. Robinson and
the late Bruce Alvin
Kelly. She has
one brother Arthur Perry
Jr. She is also the grand
daughter of Calista
Robinson and Herbert
Baker. She is
lifetime member of Happy
Home Missionary Baptist
Church were she serves as
a Youth Advisor
and Assistant Treasurer.
Additionally, LaToya
is a member of Iota Phi
Lambda Business and
Professional Sorority.

SSU Football
Game Canceled
Because of a scheduling
conflict, the football game
between Savannah State
and North Greenville has
been canceled. The teams
were supposed to have met
October 10 in Savannah.
North Greenville will play
Samford in a Thursday
night game Oct. 8. SSU
will not schedule another
opponent and will play a 10-
game schedule.
Jordan Named
Faculty Athletics

Dr.Earl Yarbrough has
appointed Dr. Ken Jordan as
the faculty athletics repre
sentative for the SSU athlet
ics department. Employed
at SSU since 1989, Jordan is
a professor in the depart
ment of social and behav
ioral sciences. Jordan is also
pastor of St. Luke
Independent Methodist
Church in Metter,GA. A
1969 graduate of North
Carolina Central, Jordan
played saxophone in the
NCCU band.
Broncos To Honor
Sharpe
The Denver Broncos will
honor former tight end
Shannon Sharpe by placing
him in the Ring of Honor.
The ceremony will take
place September 20 at half
time of the Denver 2009

The Savannah Lady Warriors
(2-0) traveled to Hinesville
on May 23 and returned
home with a 115-32 win over
the upstart C-Port Hornets.
Calisha Yates led five
Savannah players in double
figures with 26 points. Toni
Jones had 22 points, Lashara
Smith added 16 points and
seven rebounds, Sernesha
Smith had 14 points, 12
assists and eight steals while
Ayesha Barkley chipped 13
points, 11 rebounds and nine
blocks.
