has been elected President of
the Georgia Association of
Special Program Personnel
(GASPP) for the 2009-2011
terms.
Sherontae is the daugh
ter of Mr. Ronald Bolden and
Mr. & Mrs. Henry Mack
(Patricia.) and the grand
daughter of the late Mr.
Russell Ellington and Mrs.
Betty Ellington and Ms.
Marie B. Stevens; she is the
great-granddaughter of Mrs.
Gertrude H. Bacon.

up of over 300 Georgia
TRIO personnel that serve
thousands of students in
Georgia, by leveling the
playing field of educational
opportunity for first genera
tion, low income, and dis
abled students.
The GASPP members
are employed through the
federally funded TRIO
Programs: Talent Search,
Upward Bound, Veteran's
Upward Bound, Upward
Bound Math & Science,
Student Support Services,
Education Opportunity
Centers and Ronald E.
McNair Scholars Program.
GASPP is the represen
tative professional body for
colleges, universities and
agencies that host federally-
funded TRIO educational
opportunity programs.

The Junior League will
also complete one-day proj
ects with several organiza
tions including Kids in the
Kitchen, a program to edu
cate children on proper
nutritional choices. Project
applications for the done-
day projects are due July 31,
2009 and are available

In addition, the Junior
League serves the Golden
Isles and South Carolina
Lowcountry areas, and
members there will work on
various projects related to
women's and children's
advocacy.

Presents Diabetes University
The American
Diabetes Association
(ADA) is hosting Diabetes
University on Saturday,
July 18, 2009 at Ogeechee
Technical College, One Joe
Kennedy Blvd., Statesboro,
GA 30458 for all people
affected by diabetes.
Doors will open at 8:15
A.M. with three sessions
covering nine topics.
Diabetes University
2009, presented by
Ogeechee Technical
College and Statesboro
Diabetes Support Group, is
a half day educational pro
gram designed to educate
all people affected by this
disease. The pro
gram is recommended for
people with diabetes, as
well as family and friends
of people with diabetes
who have a desire to learn
more about managing this
disease.
Pre-registration is
encouraged for this educa
tional program and space is
limited.

tional sessions, free health
