Ralph Mark Gilbert Museum
Receives $5,000

Mark Gilbert Civil Rights
Museum received a check for
$5,000. The $5,000 was a combined
$2,500 from Walmart, and $2,500
from Sam’s Club. Board members
were on hand for the presentation.

Jamerson, III said this isn’t the first

Museum for a number of years, and
often lend their support. This is not the
first time they have assisted rather it

In April, the companies assisted
the Museum with spring cleaning,
sending in a crew of 25 for a day and
a half of extensive
cleaning.Established in 1996, the
Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights
Museum commemorates Civil Rights
activities led by local leaders and
countless others including hundreds of
school children.

Maxwell will perform here
in Savannah as a part of his
summer tour. The perform
ance will take place on
Tuesday, July 28 at the
Savannah Civic Center’s
Johnny Mercer Theater.
In an age of immediacy

ethereal cover of Kate
Bush’s This Woman Work) is
back with a challenging,
mature, sensual, courageous
and emotionally open album
entitled,
BLACKsummers’ night
(Columbia).
BLACKsummers’night , the
first installment of a trilogy,
is a collection well worth the
wait.
Maxwell is his middle
name; he has chosen to keep
his first and last name pri
vate out of safety for his
family. He was bom to a
Black Puerto Rican father
and a Black American moth-

Named
NCO of
the Year
SMSgt. Reggie McPherson
Senior Master
Sergeant Reginald
McPherson has been named
the Senior Non-
Commissioned Officer of
the Year for the 165th
Airlift Wing, Georgia Air
National Guard, Savannah,
GA.
SMSgt “Reggie”
McPherson enlisted in the
Air Force Reserve in May
1980. Upon completion of
Basic Military Training, he
attended Aircraft
Pneudraulic Mechanic
School at Chanute AFB,
Rantoul, IL. He transferred
to the 165th Airlift Wing in
May 1989. SMSgt
McPherson became a full
time technician in
November 1989 and
worked in the Maintenance
Squadron as a C-130H
Crew Chief.
He remained in that
capacity until March 2002
with his selection as the
Wing Ground/Weapons
Safety Manager.
His military awards
include the Meritorious
Service Medal, First Oak
Leaf Cluster, and the
Commendation Medal.
SMSgt McPherson is a
member of the Air Force
Association and the
Enlisted Association of the
Air National Guard.
He resides in Rincon,
GA with his wife, Ida, and
their two daughters
Rashonda and Rhashay.
