Entertainment
announced the start of
production for the second
season of SOULAUGH
ABLE - a comedic showcase
hosted by Flex Alexander
that features a rotating lineup
of today's hottest family
friendly comedians.
Filming for the new
season will take place from
August 14 -15, 2009 at the
Savannah College of Art and
Design's Trustees Theatre
located at 216 E. Broughton
St. Among the performers
is Valencia Wilson.

sister, Eunice Kennedy
Shriver, who carried on the
family's public service tradi
tion by founding the Special
Olympics and championing
the rights of the mentally dis
abled, died early Tuesday
surrounded by relatives at a
Hyannis hospital. She was
88.

who taught us by example

V”, Valencia Wilson is well
known comedian, singer,
actress, songwriter, radio
personality, and anointed
preacher.
As a comedian, “Ms.
V” can work a crowd like no
other. The way she pokes
fun at the inner workings of
the church is masterfully
funny to say the least.
“Ms. V” recorded a live
comedy movie entitled
“Laughalujah Mega
Comedy” in Phoenix,
Arizona and she is also part
of an exciting tour called
means to live a faith-driven
life of love and service to
others," the family said.
As celebrity, social worker
and activist, Shriver was
credited with transforming
America's view of the men
tally disabled from institu
tionalized patients to friends,
neighbors and athletes. Her
efforts were inspired in part
by the struggles of her men
tally disabled sister,
Rosemary.
"Early in life Rosemary was
different," she wrote in a
“Laighalujah Gurlfrienz”
along with other notable
comedians in the likes of
Debra Terry and Meshelle.
As a singer, “Ms. V” has per
formed on stage with gospel
singers and comedians like
Marcus Wiley, Mike
Washington, Wille Brown &
Woody, Rod Z Just to name a
few.
“Ms. V” has graced the
stage as an actress in numer
ous one-woman show enti
tled “Wellqueesha”, “Big
Mama”, “Sista Stackhouse”,
and “First Lady Plummer”.
Other stage please include, “I
Just Loved That Man”,
“Ain’t Nobody’s Business”,
“The First Ladies’ Club”,
“Love Don’t Live Here
Anymore”, “Sista Gurl”,
“After You Done All to
Stand”, and “Heaven’s
Express”.
“Ms. V” resides in
Birmingham Alabama and is
the proud mother of six chil
dren.

Realizing the children
were far more capable of
sports than experts said,
Shriver organized the first
Special Olympics in 1968 in
Chicago. The two-day event
drew more than 1,000 partic
ipants from 26 states and
Canada. She earned a sociol
ogy degree from Stanford
University in 1943 after
graduating from a British
boarding school while her
father served as ambassador
to England. Survivors
include her husband, and the
couple's five children: Maria
Shriver, who is married to
Schwarzenegger; Robert,
Santa Monica, Calif.;
Timothy, chairman of
Special Olympics; Mark, an
executive at the charity Save
the Children; and Anthony,
founder and chairman of
Best Buddies International, a
volunteer organization for
the mentally disabled.
The new engines were
manufactured by Sutphen
Corporation of Columbus,
Ohio and delivered to the
Savannah Fire Department
within the past couple of
weeks.
Once outfitting was
complete, Savannah fire
fighters began training on the
new machines which feature
a more environmentally
friendly diesel engine and
additional safety elements
for firefighters and the
motoring public.

been sworn in as a
Supreme Court justice,
becoming the first Hispanic
justice and only the third
woman to reach the high
bench.
The 55-year-old justice
was raised in a South Bronx
were custom built to local
specifications.

each.

ride and reduces fatigue on

fires, and can pump up to
1500 gallons of water per
minute when attached to a
water source.
Sotomayor swore to
"administer justice without
respect to persons" and "do
equal right to the poor and to
the rich."
Relatives and friends
applauded at the end of her
oath. A private oath was
administered before the public
ceremony.
Roberts, wearing his
black judicial robe, said that
once the oaths were done,
Sotomayor could "begin work
as associate justice without
delay."
Sotomayor has been
a federal judge for 17 years.
Obama nominated her in May
to take the place of Justice
David Souter after Souter
announced his retirement. The
Senate confirmed Sotomayor's
nomination Thursday by a 68-
31 vote.
