SCCPSS School Choice and Transfer
Options 2009-10
The Savannah-Chatham
County Public School
System’s Title I Office, in
accordance with The No
Child Left Behind Act of
2001, has released the dates
for parents to apply for a
Choice school transfer.
Under this legislation,
public school districts are
required to notify parents of
students attending schools
identified as “needs
improvement.”
Students are eligible to
transfer to another school in
the district that is in good
standing.
School districts must
provide transportation for
all students from a Title I
funded school and must give
priority to low achieving
students from economically
challenged families.
The following schools
will offer transfers for the
2009-10 school year:
• Bartlett Middle School
• Beach High School
• East Broad Elementary
School
• Groves High School
• Haven Elementary School
• Jenkins High School
• Johnson High School
• Mercer Middle School
Letters will be mailed
to parents informing them of
their transfer options.
The deadline to request
a transfer is Tuesday,
September 8, 2009.
Parents whose children
are approved for a transfer
must register their child in
the newly assigned school no
later than Tuesday,
September 29, 2009.
For more information
on School Choice transfer
options, contact your child’s
school or the Title I office at
395-5635 or visit our web
site at www.sccpss.com.
