intern, one of our first case

one of the few students who
have completed the program
with a perfect 4.0 GPA over
the years,” said Crosby. “This
fellowship award attests to her
exemplary performance and
future potential as a leader in
the field."

Randolph Helps
Team Win WBA
Title
Former Savannah State men’s
basketball standout Javon
Randolph recently helped his
professional team win the World
Basketball Association (WBA)
league championship.
Randolph, a member of the
Buford Majic, scored 19 points
to help his team defeat the
Cartersville Warriors 119-104 on
June 28. Randolph was named
to the All WBA Second Team.
Buford finished the season with
a 9-1 record.

Fire
Former Savannah State football
players Dominique Clark,
Rashard Jackson and Brandon
Parker were victims of a house
fire on August 4,2009. Local fire
units were called to the scene at
East 50th Street and they quick
ly doused the fire. The trio are ok
but Jackson said they are in need
of furniture, bedroom supplies
and kitchen supplies. Clark is a
Atlanta native while Jackson is
from Jacksonville, FL and
Parker hails from Macon.
Lady Tigers to Host

Savannah State released their
2009-10 women's basketball
schedule last week and the high-

will be a December 30 home
game against the Georgia Lady
Bulldogs. SSU will have 17
home games and will play in
two tournaments (Lady
Osprey Holiday Classic
in Jacksonville and
the Beach Ball
Classic Myrtle Beach,
SC). SSU will tip off the season
November 13 by hosting
Edward Waters.
Hollinger Gets Pre
Season Honor
Concensus Draft Services
recently released their 2009 All-
HBCU Football Team and
Savannah State wide receiver
Deleon Hollinger was listed as
an honorable mention. Last sea
son, the 5-11, 184 senior from
Miami, Florida played in 10
games and led all SSU wide
receivers in catches (45), yards
(622) and touchdowns (4). He
also led the team with a 62.2
receiving yards per game aver
age. For his career, Hollinger has
caught 85 passes for 1,131 yards
and nine touchdowns.
Bell Named Howard
Interim Athletics
Director
The Office of the Provost and
Chief Academic Officer and the
Office of the Vice Provost for
Student Affairs at Howard
University announced the resig
nation of Dwight Datcher as
Athletics Director and the
appointment of Joseph Bell as
Interim Director of Athletics,
effective Tuesday, August 18,
2009. Mr. Bell, in addition to
having served as the head coach
of the Howard swim team, also
served as the head baseball and
assistant football coach at
Hampton University. Mr. Bell
was director of Howard's nation
ally recognized and federally-
funded Upward Bound
Program. For many years, he has
been a major contributor to an
array of academic and student
development initiatives. The
University will conduct a nation
al search for a permanent
Director of Intercollegiate
Athletics. A search advisory
committee will be created and
will include faculty, staff, student
athletes, alumni and other key
stakeholders. The University
hopes to have a permanent
Director of Intercollegiate
Athletics in place by January 1,
2010.
