CHURCH NEWS AND OTHER FEATURES
Watch Your Words
Evangelist Rachel Thomas
There are two kinds of
words spoken in our daily
lives - kind and unkind, posi
tive and negative, productive
and nonproductive, good and
evil, true and false.
Realizing we must be
accountable for the deeds
done in our bodies as well as
the words we speak, let us
take-heed to what we think
and what we speak.
Jesus says in Matthew
12:36,37: "But I say unto
you, that every idle word that
men shall speak, they shall
give account thereof in the
day of judgment. For by thy
words thou shall be justified
(proved as being right), and
by thy words thou shall be
condemned (disapproved).
So we see our words now
reflect our destiny then .
Since we were all bom
into sin, with Adam's nature,
we are naturally sinners,
however, we do not have to
remain that way. This is the
reason for John 3:16: "For
God so loved the world, that
He gave His only begotten
Son, that whosoever believes
in Him shall not perish, but
have everlasting (forever)
life. The key word here is
believe. We must believe in
the Word of God.
As we look at the first
chapter of St. John, the first 3
verses let us know that in the
beginning was the Word, and
the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. The same
was in the beginning with
God. All things were made by
HIM; and without HIM was
not anything made that was
made.
John 1 :14 says, And the
Word was made flesh, and
dwelt among us, (and we
beheld (have seen) His glory,
the glory as of the only begot
ten of the Father), full of
grace and truth. The verse lets
us know that Jesus is. the
Word (the Word of God).
We also see in the first
chapter of Genesis where
God spoke everything into
existence. In Genesis 1:26
God said: "Let us make man
in our image, and after our
likeness: and let them (man)
have dominion over the fish
of the sea, and over the fowl
of the air, and over the cattle,
and over all the earth, and
over every creeping thing that
creeps upon the earth." I
believe God was talking to
JESUS when He said, "Let us
make man in our image and
after our likeness...” (some
one like ourselves).
The fall of man came in
the second chapter of Genesis
when Adam and Eve dis
obeyed God's command. In
order for us to be restored
back onto the right relation
ship with God there had to be
a sacrifice (Lamb) without
spot or wrinkle (sinless).
God's Son Jesus was the
only one qualified. The law
(Old Testament) was given
by Moses, but grace and truth
came by JESUS CHRIST in
the New Testament. No man
has seen God at anytime, the
only begotten son, which is in
the bosom of the Father, HE
has declared HIM (John
1:17,18).
