Stone Joins Womancare Obstetrics &
Gynecology
Womancare Obstetrics
& Gynecology in Savannah
recently welcomed Dr.
Ericka Patrice Stone, M.D.
to the practice.
Dr. Stone provides
both obstetrics and gynecol
ogy services and has a spe
cial interest in pediatric and
adolescent gynecology.
Dr. Stone obtained her
M.D. from Southern Illinois
University School of
Medicine in Springfield in
2005. From there, she
interned at the Hershey
Medical Center in Hershey,
Pa., and went on to complete
her OB/GYN residency at
Louisiana State University in
New Orleans in 2009.
“I tailor my care of
each patient to fit the person
and deliver information to
this in a way that they can
understand,” said Stone. “I
take the time necessary to
make the patient feel cared
for and never make them feel
rushed. I make them know
that I care about them as a

Dr. Stone has a great
interest in improving health
care for women worldwide.
In Zimbabwe she studied and
discovered cultural differ
ences among the women
there regarding their health
care and in Guatemala she
studied ways to improve
usage of available healthcare
by women in the country.
Dr. Stone also worked
with The Champaign Crisis
Nursery in Champaign, Ill.
and the Urban League of
Springfield, Ill. where she
spearheaded community
healthcare forums and fairs
to empower its members
with healthcare knowledge
and increase their access to
healthcare screening oppor
tunities.

Jackson, Stephens to hold Town Hall
Health Care Meeting
Sen. Lester Jackson (D-
Savannah) along with Rep.
Mickey Stephens (D-
Savannah) will host an infor
mational meeting, in con
junction with the State of
Black Georgia Legislative
Weekend, to update con
stituents on federal health
care legislation. The town
hall meeting will be held
Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 Noon
Mulberry Inn, 601 East Bay
Street.
Along with Sen.
Jackson, and Rep. Stephens,
Mr. Lee Goodall, State
Director for Organize for
America, Dr. Anthony W.
Jackson, Chief of Child
Psychiatry, State of
Mississippi, and Maurice
Madden, Medicare Diabetes
Screening Project will also
take place in the town hall
meeting.
SSU Parade Applications
Now Available
Savannah State
University’s (SSU) 2009
Homecoming Parade will
take place on Saturday, Oct.
31, beginning at 9 a.m. This
year’s homecoming theme is
Reaffirming Educational
Excellence Through
Scholarship, Service &
Unity.
Parade applications are
available in room 244 of the
King-Frazier Student Center
or the university Web site:
savannahstate.edu. Parade
applications—along with a
$65 application fee for each
non-campus entry—should
be returned to the parade
committee by Oct. 16, 2009.
Parade units will begin lining
up at 7 a.m. on East Broad
Street near Taylor Street. The
parade will travel north on
East Broad to Broughton
Street, west on Broughton to
MLK Jr. Blvd., south on
MLK to Anderson Street,
west on Anderson to
Ogeechee Road, where
parade units will disband
near the Economic
Opportunity Authority
(EOA) building.
After the parade, the
Homecoming celebration
moves to Wright Stadium on
the SSU campus, where the
Tigers will play Edward
Waters College at 2 p.m.
