CHURCH NEWS AND OTHER FEATURES
The Simple Gospel With
Pastor W. Anthony Jones, I
W. Anthony Jones, I
"Season Of Preparation"
Before you can experi
ence the season of blessings,
you must first deal with the
season of preparation.
Whatever God has for
you to do He will prepare you
for it just as He did those
before you. Moses spent forty
years in the house of Pharaoh
learning the wisdom of the
Egyptians (Acts 7:22), and
then he spent his next forty
years learning the lessons on
leadership (Exodus 3: I). The
last forty years of Moses life,
he spent leading God's people.
Jesus spent thirty years prepar
ing for three and a half years of
ministry.
The work of God is not
to be entering into likely or
unadvisedly. Before due sea
son comes, there is a season
that is call preparation. The
season of preparation is
Learning. Learning is neces-
san for our Christian develop
ment.
In these days it seems
like the average minister is not
willing to invest any time in
preparing for the work of God.
We all need someone who is
more experience then we are
to tutor us in the work of God
(Galatians 4:1-2).
After Saul's (Paul) conversion
on the Damascus road he spent
three years in school learning
ministry, then he journeyed to
Jerusalem, and spent fifteen
days with Peter (Galatians
1:17,18). Next comes waiting.
Waiting reveals patience, and
patience is always rewarded
with favorable results.
In Nehemiah 1:11,
Nehemiah prayed for one hun
dred and twenty days to God
about the burden he had to
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
His pray was not only for
favor but also direction.
Nehemiah patiently waited
until God opened the door.
Have you patiently waited for
God to open the door? This
last one is critical. Timing- you
got to know when God is
telling you to move. Let me
say that again, you got to
know when God is tell you to
move.
I have been privileged to
have Pastored two churches,
and now the co-founder of
Christ Church International. I
was led to open my heart to a
co-workeR of mine at the time
about a desire I had to start a
ministry. He listened and
immediately he opened his
church doors to us to start this
ministry.
For this we will forever
be grateful to Pastor Lee Terry
Miller. Whenever you set out
to do the work of God, make
sure you have the endurance to
see it to the end. And that's the
simple gospel.

Today!"

St. Philip Vacation
Bible School
Vacation Bible School
has ended for another year,
but the lessons learned shall
endure for a life time. The
Vacation Bible School
Committee made a reward
ing and purposeful change
this year in its program.
Purposeful because the com
mittee wanted to address
many concerns and reward
ing because the change
proved to be successful.
It has been said" that
God gives you what you
need when you need it", also
that “God's time is not man's
time". How true these two
phrases are. . This year's
theme, “Using God's Word to
Handle Today's Problems:
Doing The Right Thing",
proved to be what we needed
and on time. Sister Swannie
M. Richards stated that "after
fourteen years as Director of
the SPAME Church's
Vacation Bible School, that
more was needed to address
today's societal ills. That our
children and adults needed
help. So she prayed and
asked God to show her what
He wanted her to do; she
waited and she received her
answer."
This is what I mean by
God giving you what you
need when you need it and
doing it in His time frame.
Life is tough for both chil
dren and adults alike.
However, God has given us a
life plan; all we need to do is
obey. Never mind that He
was thoughtful and generous
and gave us free-will, but
remember that in His gen
erosity He will never leave
us, because He loved us first
and He loves us best. That is
why it is critical that we
apply God's Word to our
lives, daily.
We all need each other.
God gave each of us a pur
pose in life, and that purpose
will be fulfilled, be it through
following the law or through
Devine intervention, you will
get the right answer when
you need it, and that answer
is that God is Love and He
loves each of us and we are
to love each other as He
loves us.
That is the essence of
the lesson that was taught
this year. If you love God
then you will love yourself
and others. Remember, it is
easy to do the popular thing,
but it is hard to do the right
thing.
Being a Christian is not
an easy life but it is a reward
ing one. It is a life of love,
.service, respect, friendship,
stewardship, rules, regula
tions, conflict, self-denial,
obedience, patience, kind
ness, sisterhood, brother
hood, wisdom, mercy, jus
tice, forgiveness, forgetful
ness, truth, faith, loyalty,
peace, grace and much more.
We trust you will find it in
your loving heart to join us
next year as we continue to
use God's Word to handle
today's problems by doing
the right thing and remem
bering the Golden Rule, '"Do
unto others as you would
have them do also unto you",
Matt. 7:12 KJV (para
phrased).
Yes, LOVE does con
quer all.
