Royce Learning Center to hold
Building Re-Dedication
Rendering of New Royce Learning Center Facility
Royce Learning Center
will hold a re-dedication
breakfast at 9 a.m. on October
29th, 2009 to celebrate the
completion of renovations to
their building at 4 Oglethorpe
Professional Blvd. The cere
mony will include perform
ances by Chatham Academy
students and a ribbon cutting.
In 2006, Royce mounted
a Capital Campaign to raise
money for much needed build
ing renovations. The three year
campaign resulted in over
$500,000 in contributions.
Renovations to the building
include exterior stucco and
painting and a redesign and
replacement of the entrance to
reflect the school's colors and
spirit.
The building renovations were
designed by local firm Cogdell
& Mendrala Architects PC.
Work was completed by
Erickson Associates, Inc.
Major gifts received for the
work include donations from
The Colonial
Foundation, Dr. and Mrs.
Morris Geffen, Mr. and Mrs.
Jeff Lasky, and The Solomon's
Fund. Partial funding for the
project was also obtained
through the Chatham County
2004 SPLOST.
Chatham Academy, a
direct service of Royce
Learning Center, was estab
lished in 1978 to address the
academic and social needs of
children with learning differ
ences. Students work in an
individualized, small group
setting where the curriculum
provides opportunities for each
child to be challenged and to
excel. Daily programs also
reflect concern for the social
and emotional growth of each
student. Chatham Academy is
dedicated to meeting the edu
cational needs of children with
different learning styles.
Teachers use a variety of lan
guage-based and multi-senso
ry teaching methods to make
learning accessible to every
child. Chatham Academy has
designed the classrooms,
teaching techniques and cur
riculum to allow each child to
experience academic and
social success. Royce
Learning Center is a United
Way member agency.
