City of Savannah Launches Low-Flow
Toilet Voucher Program
City of Savannah
water customers can now
apply to receive a voucher
for a free, low-flow toilet.
The voucher program,
sponsored by the Water
Resources Bureau, encour
ages citizens to exchange
old, water-wasting toilets
with pre-approved low-
flow models.
The new approach will
replace the City’s annual
one-day toilet giveaway.
City of Savannah water
users qualify for a free low-
flow toilet voucher if they
have:
• Never received a free toi
let in past City giveaway
events
• Have a current and up-to-
date City of Savannah
water bill.
Occupy a house built
before 1993 (building
codes after 1993 required
low-flow toilets be
installed).
Residents can down
load the voucher applica
tion by visiting the City’s
Web site, www.savannah-
ga.gov, and clicking the
Environment and Health
tab. Qualifying applicants
will receive a voucher for
one free low-flow toilet,
redeemable at Ferguson
Water Works, 1275
Chatham Parkway.
Limiting the voucher
to one per household allows
the Water Resources
Bureau to assist more cus
tomers.
Customers may also apply
the value of the voucher to
a high-efficiency toilet such
as a dual-flush or a 1.28
gallon per flush toilet.
The price difference is
the customer’s responsibili
ty. Once the toilet has been
installed, customers will
take their old toilets to the
Dean Forest Landfill where
they will be recycled into
road fill.
