100 Black Men Install New Officers
Judge James Bass administers oath to incoming officers
The 100 Black Men of
Savannah, Inc. will install its
newly-elected officers on
Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at
5:30 p.m. at the Hoskins
Research Center of Memorial
Health University, East 66th
St. & Ranger St., Savannah.

The 100 Black Men of
Savannah, Inc. is one of 116
chapters of the 100 Black Men
of America, Inc.
It aims to serve as a bea
con of leadership and to create
an environment in which
African-American youth and
their families are motivated to
achieve and empowered to
become self-sufficient share
holders in the economic and
social fabric of our communi
ty-
Each of its five signature
programs - economic develop
ment, education, health &
wellness, mentoring, and lead
ership development - involves
mentoring and helps the
Savannah 100 achieve this
mission.
During this past year,
the organization has served
numerous Savannah youth
from all walks of like, through
such programs as its Youth
Leadership Academy, Young
Author's Renaissance
Program, post-secondary
scholarship assistance, its
acclaimed program on health
disparities, and its Collegiate
100 programs on the campus
es of Georgia Southern State
University, Savannah State
University, and Armstrong
Atlantic State University
which support the chapter's
initiatives.

Paul C.M.E. on Sunday,
January 17 2010. Mrs.
Carolyn S. Blackshear is
President of the Observance
Day Association. Rev. James
E. Taylor, Presiding Elder of
the West Savannah District
of the A.M.E. Church,
chaired the City wide
Memorial Worship Service
Committee.
NCNW Youth Section to Launch
Coat Drive
The Global Girls,
National Council of Negro
Women Savannah Youth
Section has partnered with
Signature Furniture to launch
a Community Coat Drive
entitled, “Warm the Body;
Warm the Heart.”
The Global Girl's pri
mary focus is to collect coats
to be given to students in
grades Kindergarten through
5th grade; however coats are
being collected in all sizes.
The community is
asked to bring clean, gently-
used coats that are in excel
lent condition or new coats to

and will continue through
January 30, 2010 and distrib
uted on Monday, February 1,
2010 to students in need.
The Global Girls an
extension of NCNW
Savannah Section, whose
mission is to embrace the
legacy of the organization's
founder Mary McLeod
Bethune, is comprised of
young ladies between the
ages of 12 and 17. New mem
bers are welcome to join the
Global Girls and take part in
activities of self improve
ment, self empowerment, and
community outreach.
Membership dues are $10
annually.
The Global Girls meet
monthly at the Hoskins
Center, located on the cam
pus of Memorial Health
University Hospital. The
next meeting is scheduled for
Friday, February 12, 2010,
6:30 p.m.
