Dr. Carter Julian Savage is
the Chief Idea Officer for I-
AM Consulting.
Concurrently, he is an
Associate at the W.E.B Du
Bois Institute for African and
African American Research
The Youth Ministry of
Bethel Missionary Baptist

Dr. Savage is the former
Vice President of Program &
Youth Development Services
for Boys & Girls Clubs of
America. Savage has
received a Doctor of
Education, a Master of
Public Policy (Program
Development and Program
Evaluation) and a Bachelor
of Art in Mathematics from
Vanderbilt University in

Carter joined
national staff in 1999, and
until early 2001 he managed
education programs, includ
ing a comprehensive educa
tion enhancement initiative,
Project Learn, designed to
supplement what youth ages
6-18 learn in school.
Developed by BGCA, funded
by the Carnegie Corporation
of New York and evaluated
by Dr. Stephen Schinke of
Columbia University, Project
learn provides academic
enrichment through tutoring
and homework assistance,
leisure learning activities,
parental involvement, school
collaborations and rewards
for participating youth.
In May 2001, he was
promoted to Vice President,
Youth Development Services.

Governor Sonny Perdue
recently announced that
Georgia and Microsoft will
combine efforts in a unique,
public-private partnership to
provide free technology
training to displaced workers.
"This partnership will
provide thousands of
Georgians with the education
and skills required to succeed
in the new economy,"
Governor Perdue said.
Microsoft is partner
ing with the Governor's
Office of Workforce
Development to distribute a
total of 25,900 training
vouchers during the next 90
days through job centers
across the state.
"Our vision for Elevate
America is to give Americans
the technology training and
certification to help them get
back to work, "said Steve
Ballmer, Chief Executive
Officer, Microsoft.
Georgia will receive
11,500 vouchers for
Microsoft Windows and
Office online training, 11,500
vouchers for Microsoft
Business Certification
Exams, and 2,900 vouchers
for advanced technical pro
fessional level online train
ing:
Each training voucher is
redeemable for free online
training in Microsoft
Windows, or one of the pro
grams in the Microsoft Office
suite.
Any Georgia resident
may request and receive a
voucher. The vouchers will
be distributed through the
Georgia Work Ready Web
site through on-line applica
tion at
www.gaworkready.org
through participating
Workforce Investment Act
(WIA) One Stop Centers and
select Goodwill locations.
Vouchers will be
available to citizens across
the state on a first-come,
first-served basis today April
22, 2010.
Individuals must acti
vate their vouchers for train
ing and complete certifica
tion exams within the 90 day
period.
