President Receives Doctoral Degree
Dr. Alfreda Goldwire

President Alfreda Goldwire
received her Doctorate of
Religious Education from
Covington Theological
Seminary on July 30, 2010,
in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Dr. Goldwire attended
evening classes at the
school’s satellite campus in
Savannah for three years.
Fler motivation for pursuing
this degree was the broken
ness and despair experi
enced by some of her mem
bers.
“There are so many employ
ees with various issues such
as stress, depression, sui
cide, terminal diseases, and
domestic issues that have a
direct effect on the educa
tion of our students,” said
Goldwire. “I could provide
“surface” level advice, but
there were those that desired
more and I know God was
calling me to do more and to
know more so that I could
help them.” Dr. Goldwire’s
dissertation was entitled
“Adolescent Sex, and
Religion.”
In being a teacher for
19 years, as well as a moth
er to three children and
grandmother to five, the
subject was one that she was
familiar with. However, the
insight gained from the
research will help Dr.
Goldwire as she not only
continues to advocate for
members of SFT/PRSP, and
mentor parents and children.
She is currently in the
process of publishing her
dissertation.
Dr. Goldwire’s ulti
mate goal is to use what she
learned as a catalyst for her
post retirement profession.
“I have no plans to
retire, as I am still young,
but when I do retire, I want
to make sure I have the tools
I need to do what I
love....enriching the lives of
those around me by educat
ing them on the trath and
promises of God.”
Goldwire has been
President of Savannah
Federation of Teachers for
over eight years. She
received her B.S. in Health,
Recreation, and Physical
Education in 1973 from
Savannah State University,
and her certificate in Middle
Grades Education from
Georgia Southern
University in 1983, and her
M.S. in Education from
Cambridge College in 1999.
She is a proud military wife
of 27 years, and adopted
mother to all of her students
and children’s friends.

The Office of Eastern
Judicial Circuit/Chatham
County District Attorney
Larry Chisolm announces
the appointment of two staff

Pennington are great assets
to the District Attorney’s
office. Ann has over 25
years of prosecutorial expe
rience that she brings to the
table. Frank too
has proven himself. Not
only has he had some big
convictions in the Special
