God Sends Thankful A
Under Sheppard
Pastor Paul Sheppard
After the untimely
death of their beloved
Pastor, Dr. Frederick A.
Fearbry in November 2009,
the members labored in
unity to select the Pastor
God had already chosen to
lead them to the next level.
On Wednesday, August 18,
2010 the congregation elect
ed by an overwhelming
majority, Pastor Paul
Anthony Sheppard, former
Pastor of the Third Baptist
Church of Hampton,
Virginia.
Paul A. Sheppard was
bom in Fairfax, Virginia. He
comes from a very rich her
itage and lineage of Baptist
preachers. His grandfather,
the late Rev. Milton
Sheppard, was the pastor for
39 years of the Mt. Pleasant
Baptist Church of
Alexandria, Virginia, as well
as Warner Baptist Church of
Cross Roads, and the Mt.
Calvary Baptist Church of
Fairfax.
Pastor Sheppard was
educated in the Fairfax
County Public School
System and in 1991 earned a
Bachelor of Science degree
in Psychology and
Sociology from Howard
University. He then matric
ulated at Howard's School of
Divinity, an honor student,
pursuing a master of divini
ty degree. In June 2003 he
was awarded a Master of
Theology degree from
Wilbur H. Waters School of
Religion and Theological
Seminary. He has taken
additional courses toward a
doctorate at the Seminary.
Pastor Sheppard was
licensed to preach the
Gospel on March 21, 1993
and was ordained on
December 10, 2000 at Mt.
Pleasant Baptist Church in
Alexandria, Virginia. He has
served as Youth Minister of
Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church,
where he counseled, taught
and coordinated all youth
activities.
In July, 2004 he
accepted the call to serve as
Pastor of the Second Baptist
Church in Clifton, Virginia.
Under his leadership the
church experienced tremen
dous growth spiritually,
financially, and numerically.
Sixty per cent of the church
membership were tithers.
In November 2006 he
accepted the call to become
Pastor at Third Baptist
Church of Hampton, where
among other accomplish
ments, he implemented a
radio ministry-“The Voice of
Hope”-a Family Life
Ministry, a Technology
Ministry, a Health
Awareness Ministry, a Deaf
Ministry, and a Youth Step
Team.
Pastor Sheppard has
won awards and honors for
his leadership and teaching.
He is a certified instructor
with both the Sunday
School Publishing Board's
Department of Christian
Education of the National
Baptist Convention, U.S.A.,
Inc. and the Northern
Virginia Baptist
Association's Education
Congress.
He has also served as
instructor for the Church
Wide Institute and the
Wilbur H. Waters School of
Religion and Theological
Seminary.
Pastor Sheppard is married
to the former Esther Morris,
whom he cherishes dearly,
and they are proud parents of
one son, Justin Gregory
Milton Sheppard.
He will preach his ini
tial sermon as Pastor of
Thankful Missionary Baptist
Church, 820 Martin Luther
King, Jr. Blvd. on September
5, 2010 at the 11:00 A.M
service.

Second Ebenezer’s Youth Choir
Selected to Participate in
Gospel Competition
Only two buildings
remain standing after the
recent demolition of the
Robert Hitch Village
Community. One of them is
the Second Ebenezer
Missionary Baptist Church,
Inc. It is said that “big things
come in small packages.”
Within the fellowship is a
youth choir.
This youth choir has
been chosen to compete in
the Disney Gospel Choir Fest
inaugural event. The master
of ceremony for this event
will be gospel recording
artist Smokie Norful. The
event will take place on
September 11, 2010 at Walt
Disney World Resort, Magic
Kingdom Park.
This is a big event for
our youth, church, communi
ty and city. Our youth will be
competing on a world stage
against gospel choirs from
across the United States.
We realize it takes
“teamwork to make a dream
work”, and we are asking for
you to help us spread the
good news.
