The event is free and open to the public. Events will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 (pro gram); 8 p.m. Thursday (vigil) -Christburg in the Savannah Ballroom in the King-Frazier Student Center (program); King-Frazier Student Center front steps and Alexis Circle (vigil). Humanitarian, civil rights activist, mentor and youth advocate Sheyann Webb- Christburg will be the featured speaker at the program held at SSU each year to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Webb-Christburg is the co-author of "Selma, Lord, Selma.” The book — made into the award-winning Disney movie of the same name — depicts her childhood experi ences with the late Dr. King, the late Jonathan Daniels and other civil rights leaders as one of the youngest activists in Selma, Ala. Webb-Christburg has appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "Good Morning America," the "Tom Joyner Morning Show" and several other radio and televi sion talk shows, and is featured in the acclaimed PBS docu mentary "Eyes on the Prize." She is the founder of KEEP Productions Youth Development Program, designed to enhance the person al growth and self-esteem of youth aged 2 through 18 years old. Community Breakfast Chauncey Mayfield The MLK Observance Day Association, Inc. will hold the annual Business Community Breakfast on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. The speaker will be Savannah native Chauncey C. Mayfield. Chauncey Mayfield has been the primary visionary, strategist, and architect of MayfieldGentry Realty Advisors, LLC (MGRA). From inception to date, Mr. Mayfield has grown the firm to control more than $1 billion in commercial real estate assets under management.
