Rebuild Project
In an effort to support
homeless and displaced families
in every region of the United
States, Jack and Jill of America,
Inc. and the Jack and Jill of
America Foundation will launch
its national housing initiative,
“Jack and Jill Rebuilds America
Project,” on March 12, 2011 in
New Orleans, LA. The event
will kick off with a ribbon-cut
ting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. in
dedication of the first home
completed, which is one of sev
eral homes targeted by the
Rebuilds America Project.
The Jack and Jill of
America Rebuilds Project, in
partnership with the New
Orleans Area Habitat for
Humanity, collaborated together
to build the house in New
Orleans. On Saturday evening,
Jack and Jill Inc., will host a
fundraiser to celebrate the first
Habitat home and raise funds
for Jack and Jill Foundation and
Habitat for Humanity.
The event titled “Denim
and Diamonds in the Big Easy,”
will host several dignitaries,
donors and partners at the
English Turn and County Club
at 7:00p.m.-10:00p.m. Invited
guests include New Orleans
Mayor Mitchell Landrieu, local
council members Cynthia
Hedge-Morrell (District D) and
Jon Johnson (District E), and
Council President Amie
Fielkow and honorary chair Dr.
Ernie Hughes.
“We are excited with the
charge to helping families in
these tough economic times to
actually own a place they can
call home, and where they can
build some household equity
with a no interest loan,” says
Foundation President Erik
Cliette.
“I am delighted to be a
part of rebuilding in New
Orleans, as a Louisiana native
this is very personal having
friends and family affected by
Katrina. It is Jack and Jill’s pri
mary goal to serve others and I
am proud to serve as the
National President of Jack and
Jill of America, Inc., as we
Rebuild America,” says
National President Tara Joseph
Labrie.
“Denim and Diamonds,”
will also recognize our donors
and partners who help build the
home for a family to own it.
The celebration will wrap- on
Sunday, March 13, 2011 with a
riverboat cruise on the
Mississippi River. The heart of
our national housing initiative
includes building viable part
nerships with local organiza
tions with a neighborhood focus
such as Habitat for Humanity.
Together, we plan to partner and
concentrate our resources to
building homes in the following
U.S. region: Southeastern
(2013); Mid-Atlantic (2014);
Mid-West (2015); Far West
(2016) and Central (2017).
