Ruth Chapter #3 O.E.S. Highlights
Their 10th Youth Program
Dominique Pressley
The Superintendent’s
Student of the Month is
Dominique Pressley. She is a
junior at Alfred Ely Beach
High School. Dominique was
selected for her academic
achievement, leadership skills,
and ability to overcome chal
lenges.
Currently possessing an
85 GPA, Dominique is an
inspiration to students that they
can turn things around for the
better.
Dominique enrolled in
the Savannah-Chatham
County Public School System
in May of 2009 after changing
school districts several times.
The constant change had an
obvious impact on Dominique
and it showed in her academic
performance. However, in
September 2010, things began
to improve for Dominique
after her exceptional gift for
mathematics was discovered.
Soon after, she was placed in
an advanced classroom where
she excelled.
By January, Dominique
was blossoming. Her grades
went from 80s to 90s. By the
middle of February,
Dominique was tutoring her
peers and working in the guid
ance office.
Students who are tutored
by Dominique give her credit
for gaining an understanding
of the material and improving
their grades. The guidance
office sings her praises as well.
Her teacher, Heather
Wright describes her as “the
epitome of what a Beach stu
dent should embody. She is a
leader and mentor who is well-
respected by her peers and
teachers and she strives daily
to academically exceed what is
asked of her. She is kind, soft-
spoken and well-
mannered.”
When asked what moti
vates her to strive for academ
ic success, Dominique said,
“The simple fact of wanting to
be all I can be motivates me to
work harder. Seeing the effect I
can have on my peers that I am
helping, has been a great moti
vator for me.”
The Superintendent’s
Student of the Month program
recognizes individual students
who have excelled in the area
of academics, leadership, and
community service.
Dominique Pressley was rec
ognized by Superintendent,
Thomas B. Lockamy Jr., Ed.D.
at the regular board meeting
on May 4, 2011. She was pre
sented with an award plaque
and a $100 savings bond.

flowers while she can
smell them. Her brother,
Samuel Bryant spoke
about growing up with her.
Her sister, Mrs. Mary
Jones says "sister knows
best." Mrs. Ramsey's chil

Mrs. Ramsey is forever
grateful and she will
always remember the

Dominique has
teamed up with Novo
Nordisk, the world’s lead
ing diabetes care company
to help change the way
people think about living
with diabetes.
He wants people to
understand that they can
live with diabetes if they
make changes in their life.
“I feel better because of
those lifestyles changes I
have made. It’s been a
wonderful ride since
then,” he says.
The event starts at
6:30 pm and is free to the
public. Call 912 233 1951

Youth who participated with the program were recognized with certificates
The children and young
adult talent and fashion pro
gram, sponsored by Ruth
Chapter #3 O.E.S. is an annual
event that is held yearly to ben
efit all children in the Savannah
community. Children and
young adults ages 1 year to 16
years old participated in this
program and all of them did a
wonderful job and appeared to
have a very good time.
The program was held on
May 1, 2011, at 5:00pm, at our
newly decorative Masonic
Hall, located at 912 Drayton St.
We gave each child a chance to
express themselves in their
own way, displaying God's gift
in many diverse roles along
with positive intervention with
other children from all areas of
Chatham County.
The youth were given the
opportunity to express them
selves in various ways. They
were in charge of the program
starting with the devotion,
emceeing, modeling, praise
dancing and reading of poems
they personally created and
dedicated to their parents and
grandparents.
After the program ended, the
youth were served first by
members of the Chapter, and
were all given a meal and other
treats for their relentlessness in
making the program a delight
ful success. All participants
were also given certificates.
Ruth Chapter #3 will con
tinue to relegate these types of
activities for our youth in the
Savannah community. We
would like to give a special
thanks to the parents and other
family members and friends
who supported their children
and attended the program.
Also, special thanks are
extended to other International
Members who supported this
Event. We thank you too!
