10-The Savannah Tribune • Wednesday, February 15, 2012 Savannah Book Festival Unveils Final Schedule Pat Conroy The Savannah Book Festival unveils the final schedule for the main day of the festival on Saturday, February 18, 2012. New extended hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Author presentations on Saturday remain free and open to the public and are being held in venues in and around Telfair Square. Festival events run from February 15-19, 2012. The free offerings of the festival begin on Friday evening, February 17, with literary icon Pat Conroy delivering the keynote address. It is held at Trinity United Methodist Church at 225 W. President Street on Telfair Square at 6:00 p.m., doors open at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, February 18, six venues around Savannah’s historic Telfair Square will host an impres sive line-up of more than 40 authors in a variety of genres such as fiction, history, lifestyle, memoir, lifestyle and poetry. Visit www.savannahtribune.com Former SCLC Education Director to Deliver SBHF Lecture Dorothy Cotton, former education director for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and retired univer sity administrator, will make two appearances in conjunc tion with the 23rd Annual Savannah Black Fleritage Festival, which is presented by the city of Savannah and Savannah State University (SSU). Cotton will deliver the annual W.W. Law Lecture at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Jepson Center for the Arts, 207 W. York St. The annual lecture is presented in part by the Telfair Museums and Georgia Humanities Council. Beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, Cotton will lead a student forum at SSU, presented in conjunction with SSU’s Center for Leadership Lecture Series and Georgia Humanities Council. From 1960 to 1968, Cotton was education direc tor for the SCLC where she worked closely with Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders. In that capacity, she directed the now-famous Citizenship Education Program ‘‘Journeys, Passages & Transitions” is the theme of the 2012 festival. All festival events are free and open to the public.
