NAACP ANNOUNCES: i The Savannah Branch of the NAACP an nounces “Voter Registra tion Sunday,’’ Sunday, Sep tember 23, 2012, as part of the Earl T. Shinhoster Voter Empowerment Campaign 2012. This phase of the campaign will be coordi nated through its coalition with The Savannah Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, local ministerial alliances, and other organizations with national affiliations such as Top Ladies of Distinction, the National Council of Ne gro Women, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., the Divine Nine (Greek Letter Organi zations), other community organizations with national affiliations as well as local organizations. Blowin’ Smoke BBQ, part of Savan nah’s Gaslight Group restau rants, will feature an array of events throughout the week including multiple live music performances, jam sessions, and a film featuring a special appearance by producer & director James “Huey” Cole man, Jr. The 2012 Savan nah Jazz Festival is set for September 23rd through Sep tember 30th. “Blowin’ Smoke’s partnership with the Savannah Jazz Festival over the past few years has proven to be benefi cial for everyone involved,” says Gaslight Group owner Jennifer Huskey. “We fully support the organization’s mission to help jazz thrive in the Coastal Empire through live performances and music education scholarships.
