Storms of Life
Evan. Rachel Thomas
Have you ever wondered why
there are storms, hurricanes,
and earthquakes in the world
today? There is a story in
the Bible of two cities by the
names of Sodom and Gomor
rah (Genesis 19:13, 17, 26).
There lived a man named
Lot, Abraham’s brother’s
child, who God sent angels
to warn of a disaster to bring
him out before the disaster
came. He did this because of
Abraham. Sometimes I won
der if these storms that we are
having today come to warn us
or to wake us up of what is to
come.
Sodom and Gomor
rah burned up. Nothing was
left. No one survived but
Lot and his family. However
since his wife was from that
city, she looked back when
God’s angels told them not to
and when she did; she turned
into a pillar of salt (Gen. 19).
As we go through
the storms of life, yes we do
- physically, spiritually and
emotionally storms, I wonder
if it’s a wakeup call for us to
get ready - to be prepared for
what is to come. People, the
clock is closing on its 13th
hour and if you do not have
your house in order, if you
do not have your souls right
with God, then as it happened
to Sodom and Gomorrah, it
will happen to you. It is as
clear as day! Time is running
out and the Savior is soon to
come. Are you Ready?
As we the Unswitch-
ables reach out to souls in the
streets every June, we come
across many who are hungry
for God and many who are
not. But those who received
are blessed with the Blessed
Hope of seeing our Lord Je
sus as He comes to take the
Truth and righteous Believer
back with Him to live forever
with Him in Heaven.
There is a place
called Heaven and our Lord
God who created All Beings,
desires for us all to be there
with Him and not with the evil
one Satan, the devil to live in
torment forever in hell, where
all sinners who will not accept
the Lord Jesus as the Savior
of their souls. Yes, there is a
place called Hell and Satan
is going to and from seeking
whom he can devour. Be not
caught up with his schemes.
Ask God for wisdom to know
the difference. God will
lead and guide us to remain
on the straight and narrow
path. God promises never to
leave us nor forsake us. He
promised Never to leave us
alone. God is TRUTH! God
is everywhere. He sees Ev
erything. He hears all that we
say...he Knows All. There
is no hiding place from God.
He is God and there is no oth
er. No other God!!! If you
have Him as your Redeemer,
He will not forsake you!
The 23rd Psalms
reads, “The Lord is my Shep
herd; I shall not want. He
maketh me to lie down in
green pastures. He leadeth me
besides the still waters. He
restoreth my soul. He leadeth
me in the paths of righteous
ness for His name’s sake.
Yea though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of
death, I will fear no evil for
thou art with me; Thy rod and
thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou prepare a table before
me in the presence of mine
enemies. Thou anointeth my
head with oil; my cup run
neth over. Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all
the days of my life and I will
dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.’’
God is not a man
that He should lie nor the Son
of man that He should repent
what He says. He will Do
and say and He will bring it
to pass (Hebrews 6; 18). So
draw close to God and He
will take care of you! He
even said to cast all our cares
upon Him for He cares for
us. Therefore I plea with you
today to Repent of your sins.
Tell God sincerely from your
heart that you are sorry for all
your sins and ask Him to for
give you and then invite Him
into your heart to be Lord of
your Life. Give your soul to
God and He will save you
from Hell and the devil.
God loves you and
He does not desire that any of
His people to be lost. Come
to Jesus right now and receive
Him as Lord. A God who
cares, saves and sustains is a
God who loves always.
God bless and keep you is my
prayer for you.

I Am Better Off
“But he that knew not, and did com
mit things worthy of stripes, shall
be beaten with few stripes. For unto
whomsoever much is given, of him
shall be much required: and to whom
men have committed much, of him
they will ask the more.” Luke 12.48
During my formative years,
I always hated when someone said, I
told you so whenever I was not able to
complete a task or a challenge. Grow
ing up on the streets of Savannah, my
peers and I would challenge one another as amateur daredev
ils. Whenever we attempted an idiotic task, such as jumping
over the front of a car, there is always that one person who
would stand over your bruise and bloody exterior, and recite
these four famous words, “I told you so!” Unfortunately, as
I grew up, I realized there are people in my personal and pro
fessional life that are just waiting for my demise that they too
might declare, “I told you so!”
Keeping this in mind, I am disappointed when peo
ple of color are given the opportunity to excel and then do not
take full advantage of their positions. In this country, that I
love, we have come a long way, but there are still folks who
have not gotten the stench of Jim Crow out of their hearts.
Whenever an African American achieves corporate or political
success, there are those waiting for you to mess up so they can
be the first to say, “I told you so!”
How can we be so careless, don’t we realize that ev
eryone is watching every move we make? We must make sure
we cross every T and dot every I, understanding our actions
will be judged on a higher standard. It is not fair, but it is our
reality. We must also realize that there are individuals, who
stuck their necks out that you might have the opportunity that
you now possess. Furthermore, your success or failure dic
tates whether or not another person of color will be given the
same opportunity that was given to you. You may say, why
should the fate of my people rest on my success or failure?
Again, I say this is our reality, live with it.
Remember the words of Luke, “to whom much is
given, much is required.”
