VOTER REGISTRATION CONTINUES Savannah Branch The Savannah Branch of the NAACP an nounces “Voter Registra tion Sunday,’’ which will continue on Sunday, Sep tember 30, 2012, as part of the Earl T. Shinhoster Voter Empowerment Campaign 2012. This phase of the campaign will be coordi nated through its coalition with The Savannah Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, local ministerial alliances, and other organizations with national affiliations such as Top Ladies of Distinction, the National Council of Ne gro Women, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., the Divine Nine (Greek Letter Organi zations), other community organizations with national affiliations as well as local organizations. Sunday, October 7, can also serve as ‘Voter Reg istration Sunday.’ Deadline for registration is October 9 in order to vote in Novem ber’s election. Please call 912-233-4161 for additional information. Early voting in Chatham County begins October 15 through Novem ber 2, 2012. Saturday voting will take place on one day only, October 27, 2012 at the Voter Registration Of fice. The Savannah Jazz Lestival held their annual opening night jam session at Blowin’ Smoke BBQ located on MLKing, Blvd. This location brings back memories of what the night life was like in the early 50s on West Broad Street. On Wednesday, October 3, 2012 the debate will held at the University of Denver and will be aired beginning at 9pm EST. Each debate will be broadcast live on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, as well as all cable news channels including CNN, Fox News and MSNBC among others. Jim Lehrer, the host of NewsHour on PBS will serve as moderator. The topic will be domestic policy.
