officially open up Royal Church of Christ, Inc.’s 53rd Annual
General Assembly services On Monday night, Oct. 22 2012
at 7:30 p.m., on 1902 Rogers Street in the Hudson Hill area
with Pastor Lynn Kelly of Evidence of Faith as speaker; Tues
day night, Oct. 23 Apostle Tevin Roberts of Abundant Life
Christian Center as speaker; Wednesday night, Oct. 24, Apos
tle W. B. Jefferson - Presiding Prelate of New Greater Owens
Temple as speaker; Thursday night. Oct. 25, .Bishop Moses
Lewis of Church of Christ Holiness Unto the Lord of Sylva-
nia, Georgia as speaker; Friday night,, Oct. 26, Pastor Charles
Roberson of Kingdom Life Christian Fellowship as speaker.
The assembly services will culminate on Sunday, Oct. 28 at
12 p.m. with Apostle David Simmons of Holy Temple Inter
national House of Prayer from Charleston, South Carolina as
speaker. Bishop Willie Ferrell will officiate the. ordination
and licensing service.

Maj. Gen. Jeffrey E. Phillips Speaks at
Armstrong on Leadership
Armstrong Atlantic State University is proud to an
nounce a special lecture from Army Reserve Maj. Gen. Jeffrey
E. Phillips, assistant deputy chief of staff, G-l, on the Army
staff; and former deputy commanding general of the 3rd In
fantry Division at Ft. Stewart in Hinesville, Ga. On Monday,
Nov. 12 at 6:00p.m., Phillips will deliver his talk, “The Im
perative of Leadership,” at the Armstrong Center, 13040 Ab
ercorn St., in Savannah. The lecture is free and open to the
public.
Phillips served as deputy commanding general of the
3rd Infantry Division (“Rock of the Marne”) at Ft. Stewart in
Hinesville until March 2011, when he moved to Washington,
D.C. to serve in his current position in the Army’s staff section
responsible for human resources. Phillips was commissioned
in the army as a second lieutenant of armor in 1979. His ser
vice includes assignments in Egypt, Israel, Iraq, Germany and
the Balkans, as well as the U.S. For more information, contact

Community Celebration to be Held
The second annual CHARACTER COUNTS! ®
Community Celebration will be held on Oct. 20, 2012 from
10am to 2 pm at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.
The celebration is free and open to the public with
tons of family friendly activities!
The purpose of the CHARACTER COUNTS!® pro
gram, facilitated by the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, is
to promote the virtues of character building, also known as
The
Six Pillars of Character®: Trust, Respect, Responsibility, Fair
ness, Caring, and Citizenship. The goal is to strengthen the
partnership between schools, families, and community mem
bers by unifying expectations and highlighting the benefits of
good character.
The CHARACTER COUNTS! ® program is admin
istered throughout all Savannah- Chatham Public Schools and
the Community Celebration, presented in part by the SCCPSS
Student Affairs Department, illustrates the district’s belief in
the value of character education.
The CHARACTER COUNTS!® initiative was en
acted in 2008. The Savannah-Chatham
County Public School System is the only district in Georgia to
house the national program throughout all schools.
