New Fire Station Groundbreaking
Ceremony Held

official groundbreaking for
the city’s new Bradley Pointe
lire station, (two previously
scheduled groundbreaking
ceremonies were cancelled
due to inclement weather).
The ceremonial
first shovels full of dirt were
turned during a 9:30 a. m.
ceremony at the site located
on Bradley Blvd. inside the
Bradley Pointe South de
velopment off Highway 17
South. The 4.76 acre site
will become home to a new
10,000 square-foot facility
that will replace a temporary
lire station currently located
about a half mile north on
Ogeechee Rd (Highway 17).
The new building
will be a stucco facility on
a concrete slab with a metal
roof. It has been planned
in accordance with FEMA
guidelines for critical facili
ties. It is designed to resist
a minimum 130 mph basic
wind speed. It will include
three apparatus bays, sleep
ing quarters, common areas,
handicap accessible rest
rooms, showers, office space
and a decontamination room.
It will have a sprinkler sys
tem throughout and will in
clude mechanical, electrical
and plumbing provisions as
well as radio and computer
technology specific to the
Savannah Fire and Emergen
cy Services function.
The project cost in
cludes all site work includ
ing utilities, driveways and
parking areas, landscaping
and fencing. The facility will
also have back-up power
supplied by a stand-by emer
gency generator.

Ride with Your Vote to Early Voting on Saturday, Oct. 27
Free Transportation Provided
As a part of the NAACP’s “This Is My Vote” campaign, the Savannah Branch, The Savannah Chapter
of The Links, and several community organizations, have collaborated with several churches to pro
vide free transportation for Early Voting on Saturday, October 27th. The “This Is My Vote, and I Am
Riding With It” Campaign is designed to provide FREE Transportation for eligible voters who live
in several sections of Savannah, and take them to the two locations that will be open for the ONLY
SATURDAY Early Voting Day in Chatham County. The locations are The Voter Registration Office
at 1117 Eisenhower Dr., Suite E, and the Southwest Library (Savannah Mall), 14097 Abercorn St.,
Savannah, GA 31419. The Free Transportation schedule and pick-up / drop-off locations are listed
below. Transportation will run every hour between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Please bring your official
photo ID card with you.
