New Chairman and Vice-Chairman

ty Brunch will be held on
Saturday, January 16, 2016
at 10:00 a.m. at the Interna
tional Trade and Convention
Center.
The speaker will
be Ms. Elaine Griffin, a
native of Georgia, and an
award winning Interior De
signer and Author.
She is a graduate of Yale
University and studied at
the New York School of
Interior Design. She began
her design career in the of
fice of architectural behe
moth Peter Marino,
following a nine-year ca
reer as a publicist in New
York and Paris, and offi
cially opened her own firm
in 1999.

where it is, how it’s lived
in—reveals more about
him than anything else in
the world,” says person
ality-packed New York
interior designer and life
style expert Elaine Grif
fin. “Think about it: you
change clothes every day;
you eat a different food at
every meal. But you head

local artist and 1971 grad
uate of A. E. Beach High
School, has been select
ed by the Martin Luther
King, Jr. Observance Day
Association to receive the
MLK, Jr. “Legacy Award
for the Arts” during the
2016 Observance Day cel
ebration. The award will
be presented at the MLK,
Jr. Business and Commu
nity Unity Brunch
In 1986, Chair
man of the MLKing, Jr.
Day Committee, Rev.
Bennie R. Mitchell and At
torney Benjamin Eicholz
commissioned Milton to
paint a portrait of Martin
Luther King, Jr. to be dis
played at the entrance of
the Martin Luther King,
Jr. Arena of the Savannah
Civic Center. The portrait
was dedicated at the 1986
MLK, Jr. celebration mak
ing Mr. Milton the first
African American artist to
have his work permanently
displayed in a municipal
building in Savannah.
The tickets are
$50.

named Chairman, and Sa

and Airport Commission
member Shirley James
was named Vice-Chair
man. Other commissioners
are Sylvester C. Formey,
Sheldon Tenenbaum, and
Lois Wooten. The Savan
nah Airport Commission
is the governing body for
the Savannah/Hilton Head
International Airport, and
members are appointed to
serve five year terms.
