Dr. Stevenson Awarded Honorary
Doctor of Humane Letters Degree

at its 2018 Commencement
Ceremony by being award
ed an Honorary Doctor of
Humane Letters Degree on
May 11, 2018 at Ginghams-
burg Church in Tipp City,
Ohio. Dr. Michael Brown,
President of Payne Theolog
ical Seminary wrote, “Your
stellar leadership and stead
fast advocacy of theological
education makes you the
ideal candidate for this trib
ute.”
A native of Savan
nah, Georgia, Dr. Stevenson
has spent over forty years
as a faithful member of the
African Methodist Episco
pal Church. He is a Vietnam
Veteran having served in
the United States Air Force.
He has exemplified a life of
dedicated service not only
in ministry but also spiritual
development of God’s peo
ple.
Dr. Stevenson
earned a B. S. degree in So
Dr. Daniel Stevenson
ciology and a M. S. degree
in Social Science from Sa
vannah State University. He
earned a Master of Divinity
degree from the Interdenom
inational Theological Center
in Atlanta, Georgia. He has
two earned doctorate de
grees: one from the Gradu
ate Theological Foundation
in South Bend, Indiana, and
from United Theological
Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

Youth Summer Programs
The City of Savan
nah’s Youth Summer Pro
grams begin next week and
there is still space available.
This summer the City’s
Parks and Recreation De
partment is offering activi
ties in the arts, team sports,
cheerleading and swim
ming.
The City will hold
Summer Camps at 14 dif
ferent community centers in
two four-week sessions. The
first session runs from May
29 to June 22. The second
session will run June 25 to
July 20. The cost for each
session is S105 for non-resi
dents and discounted to S65
dollars for City residents.
From May 29 to
July 20, City staff will be
supervising 27 playgrounds
throughout the City. Con
structive activities such as
arts & crafts, team sports,
board games and other out
door activities will be avail
able to the youth. These ac
tivities are free to the public.
On July 10, the City will
hold the annual Playground
Olympics in Daffin Park.
All supervised playground
locations will meet at Daffin
Park for a morning of field
day activities followed by a
tug of war against City staff.
Summer Drop in
Art is another free program
offered by the City from
4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at various
summer camp facilities.
The program is open to all
youth in the public but space
is limited to 15 youth per
classroom.
A picnic style
lunch free lunch will be of
fered to any youth 18-years-
old or younger who are
participating in summer pro
grams from May 29 to July
20.

of the Lord, always ready
and willing to embark upon
any challenge or goal that
is geared toward Kingdom
building.

“Statistical and Financial
Tools to Track Business
Performance”, and will be
presented in the SCORE
conference room, 111 E.
Liberty St, Savannah, on 31
May, from 11:30 to 1:00.

The speaker for
the event will be Greg Stin
son. Following a success
ful corporate career, Greg
Stinson chose to become an
entrepreneur. Greg and his
wife started a small business
in a new industry which pro
duced sustained profitability
within a period of sixteen
months. They were able to
pay off a seven-year busi
ness loan in five years , later
selling the business in 2017
to enjoy retirement.
