VOTE FOR WARNOCK
Keep Georgia and America Moving Forward
By Shirley James, The Savannah Tribune Publisher
E arly vot
ing for the
December
6th Runoff Election began
Saturday, November 26th
in Chatham County and
will continue until Friday,
December 2nd. Chatham
County was one of only 25
of Georgia’s 159 counties
that offered Saturday voting
and among only 18 Georgia
counties that offered Sun
day voting. We hope that
you understand the urgen
cy of voting in this Runoff
Election and all elections as
we combat a restrictive and
suppressive new voting law,
Georgia SB 202. We trust
that you have already vot
ed using the Sample Ballot
that we printed last week to
encourage you to vote and
help re-elect Senator Rapha
el Warnock as our represen
tative from Georgia in the
U.S. Senate. If you have not
voted, you still have time.
This U.S. Senate
runoff election on December
6th, which features Senator
Raphael Warnock, a Demo
crat, and his opponent, Re
publican Flerschel Walker,
is an extremely important
election. Even though Dem
ocrats have already offi
cially won enough seats to
retain control of the Senate,
the Georgia Senate Runoff
Election could determine
just how successful Senate
Democrats will be. Re-elect
ing Senator Warnock would
give a 51 to 49 seat advan
tage to Democrats and in
crease the possibility of leg
islation being passed in the
Senate that will benefit the
people of America. In ad
dition, having 51 votes will
make it easier for President
Biden to continue to appoint
qualified judges. The 51-
vote majority would elimi-

nate the need for Democrats of Democrats and Republi-
in the Senate to continue cans,
the awkward 50-50 pow- As you may re-

Republicans which means ers delivered the State’s
that Senate Committees are 16 Electoral Votes to help
currently composed equally elect Joe Biden as Presi
dent and Kamala Harris as
Vice President. For the first
time in Georgia history, two
Democratic Senators, one
Black (Senator Warnock)
and one Jewish (Senator
Ossofl) were elected to rep
resent Georgia. However,
the important job of putting
Georgia and America on an
even better path remains
unfinished. By re-electing
Senator Warnock on De
cember 6th, Georgia voters
could help make it possible
for President Joe Biden and
Vice President Kamala Har
ris, with the help of the U.S.
Senate, to enact programs
that protect our basic rights
and freedoms, correct some
of the errors of the Trump
Administration and dimin
ish the influence of individu
als who are anti-democratic
white nationalist.
We are fortunate
that America has again been
able to ensure that Senator
Chuck Schumer will con
tinue in the powerful role
of Senate Majority Leader
as opposed to obstructionist
Senator Mitch McConnell,
who would probably not
allow the Senate to even
consider any of President
Biden’s judicial nominees,
especially any for the high
est court in the land.
During the Trump
Administration and under
the leadership of Mitch Mc
Connell in the Senate, there
were massive, fast-tracked
and reckless appointments
and confirmations of federal
judges, including Supreme
Court Justices, who were
handpicked by the Federal
ist Society. Many of these
judges were rated as unqual
ified by the American Bar
Association.
