These young la

support each other during
one of the hardest transi

That step from High School
to College is a fascinating
and expensive time.
The 4 Species are
actively fundraising to meet

the financial needs of gradu
ating from high school and
entering college. This is an
expensive transition when
the child is the product of a
low-income family unit. All
the young ladies are prod
ucts of either a single-parent
home or being raised by a
grandparent. Living on a
fixed income can be chal
lenging when supporting
children. Some young ladies
have acquired jobs to help
with their financial needs,
but the deadlines are rolling
in and some money needs to
be paid now to ensure they
can graduate.
The 4 species have
established a cash app ac

Part II: Elections Have Consequences
Joseph H. Silver, Sr., President Silver & Associates
If you are keep
ing up with the articles on
the elections that have been
published herein, you will
note that the information has
been tracking very well. The
midterm elections witnessed
the “miracle” that I refer
enced in Part I of “Elections
have Consequences.” The
Democrats maintained con
trol of the Senate. The Re
publicans have gained con
trol of the House, but not by
the margin that was predict
ed. Some say a message was
being sent to say “enough is
enough” with the negativity.
Most of the election deniers
lost and most of the candi
dates backed by the former
president (#45) lost. Some
how the Republican lead
ership did not get that mes
sage about enough of the
negativity. Contender for the
Speaker of the House, Kevin
McCarthy, has very public
ly stated that he will go af
ter President Biden and his
family with active investi
gations in retaliation for the
Trump impeachment/s. Mc
Carthy has also stated that
he will seek impeachment of
President Biden and some of
his Cabinet. Further, he stat
ed that he will remove Dem
ocrats from committees on
which they presently serve.
There is speculation that he
will deep-six the January
6th Committee’s work. This
is not a governing agenda.
This is a revenge agenda.
We will need to wait and
see, but this could be his
own undoing. The American
people are ready to move
forward in the governing
process. Whether the Re
publican party is ready to
do so will be determined by
who they elect as Speaker of
the House.
While the Demo
crats did not get the blow
out that was predicted, their
losses created a divided
governing process for the
next two years. Time will
only tell if the governing
process will stall, or if both
sides will do what they were
elected to do—govern. Just
because the elections are
over, with the exceptions of
a few runoffs, the issues that
the American people have
voiced concerns about are
still prevalent and need to be
addressed. So, there is still
a need to address inflation,
crime, high cost of food and
gas, and the need to develop
a workable monetary policy.
Will the divided government
work together to address
these issues, or will the in
fighting continue leaving the
people to suffer even more.
On the state level,
Georgia is in the midst of a
runoff for the Senate race
between the incumbent,
Raphael Warnock, and Her-
schel Walker. On the sur
face, this race should not
be competitive if you were
looking at qualifications
alone. However this race,
as it has played out, is not
about qualifications. Rath
er, it is about power and
control. Herschel Walker
was recruited from Texas
by former President Trump
and other Republicans to ul
timately challenge Raphael
Warnock after a successful
primary win against several
well-known Republicans.
While the race will not de
termine who controls the
Senate, it will impact the
margins that could impact
legislation going forward.
So this runoff election is
important, and voting is im
portant.
Voting is import
ant in any democracy. If this
is true, why did the Repub
licans try to limit early vot
ing? The Democrats sued
to expand early voting and
the courts sided with the
Democrats initially and on
appeal. Folk, this reality
should tell you all you need
to know. So, hopefully, you
have voted early already.
Early voting will continue
until December 2nd. For
those who have not voted
early, you should be making
plans now to vote in the De
cember 6th runoff election.
Voting is a right! So many
have fought and died for the
right to vote. Do not let their
work and deaths go in vain
by not voting. Honor them
and yourself by voting in the
runoff election of December
6th and all future elections.
