Union Mission’s Renovation Fundraiser
Supports The Day Center at Grace House
Support for this
year’s Giving Tuesday Cam
paign will help renovate the
outdoor courtyard at Grace
House, a 32-bed Emergency
Housing Program for men
and individuals returning to
the community from incar
ceration. With the expansion
of a new Day Center open
ing in December, it requires
a critical investment in our
facility and renovations that
accommodate increased
traffic, increase durability,
and preserve individual dig
nity.
The current budget
for the project is $50,000 in
cluding painting, installation
of new pavers, landscaping
and furniture. Union Mis
sion has committed $38,000
to the renovation with the
balance to be raised through
their Giving Tuesday Cam
paign. Gifts can be donated
at www.unionmission.org or
mailed to 120 Fahm Street,
Savannah, GA 31401. If
your organization is inter
ested in sponsoring, please
contact Mark Toth, Director
of Major Gifts at (248) 770-
3933 or mtoth@unionmis-
sion.org.
Thanks to the suc
cess of past Giving Tuesday
campaigns, funds raised
have enabled Union Mis
sion to remodel a variety
of spaces from bathrooms
at Magdalene House to the
dining room at Grace House
through our various 90-day
Emergency Housing Pro
grams for men, women, and
children.
Living without
safe, stable housing can be
physically and emotionally
exhausting. Exposure to ex
treme heat and cold causes
physical health issues and
exacerbates existing ail
ments and mental health
issues. The courtyard will
provide a therapeutic envi
ronment offering recreation
and relaxation to the home
less searching for stability
and safety after carrying
the burdens of trauma, sub
stance abuse and homeless
ness.
“Clients enter
ing our programs are un
der extreme stress and
overwhelmed with anxiety
caused by their current sit
uation,’’ said Michael Tray-
nor, President & CEO. “By
offering a peaceful, hospi
table space, we will help
create an environment that
helps facilitate transforma
tion.’’
