Saturday, December 17, 2022
at the Savannah Convention
Center. This historic Cotil
lion combining three debutante
classes due to the pandemic in
cluded 400 attendees. It was a
night that will never be forgot
ten by these debutantes and at
tendees. The 2020-2022 Debu
tantes received Lillie Jackson
Ray Scholarships.

Jam 2023 is an annual event
that is hosted by the Savannah
Interagency Diversity Council
(SIDC) to bring awareness of
human trafficking. The Traf
fick Jam will be held at Savan
nah State University on Friday,
January 27 and Saturday, Janu
ary 28,2023.
On Friday, January
27, 2023 from 8 AM - 12 PM
there will be a Law Enforce
ment Workshop in Savannah
State’s Howard Jordan Audi
torium. This event is free and
open to the public. On Satur
day, January 28, 2023 from 9
AM - 4:30 PM the 2023 Savan
nah Traffick Jam will be held
in Savannah State’s Student
Union and open to the general
public for free.
The event will feature
a resource fair that will consist
of over 40 local non-profit or
ganizations as vendors. Savan
nah Traffick Jam 2023 will fea
ture expert speakers who will
be provide their experiences,
knowledge and expertise on
human trafficking to the attend
ees. The Master of Ceremony
will be Dawn Baker, News An
chor and Author, WTOC-TV.

Local BIPOC Nonprofit Leaders Graduate From Nonprofit Leadership And Career Development
Program Created By United Way Of The Coastal Empire
United Way of the
Coastal Empire is pleased to
announce the graduates of the
BIPOC (Black, Indigenous,
People of Color) Nonprofit
Leadership Symposium. Eigh
teen leaders graduated from the
program during the graduation
ceremony. The leadership and
career development program
was conceived in early 2021
in partnership with local Black
nonprofit leaders to advance
opportunity throughout the re
gion.
“BIPOC Leadership
has been many things and of
fered much for nonprofit lead
ers such as ways to resolve
conflict, grant preparation
and implementation, tools of
strategic planning and devel
opment, and so much more,’’
says Yolandra Shipp, Execu
tive Director and Founder of
Academic Girls Empowering
for Success, Inc, who partici
pated in this year’s program.
The program framework was
designed by the BIPOC Lead
ership Council: Alicia Johnson,
Executive Director of Step Up
Savannah; Cheri Dean, Vice
President of Direct Services
with United Way of the Coast
al Empire; Destiny Bradshaw,
Founder and Executive Direc

Nonprofit program provides

connect BIPOC leaders with

ing services to the Savannah

Administration at Savannah
State University and one of the
BIPOC Nonprofit Leadership
Symposium facilitators. “As a
Savannah State faculty mem
ber, it allows for the opportuni
ty to connect our students with
the community and learn about
the good work in the communi
ty-”
The program official
ly kicked off in October when
the BIPOC cohort met for the
first time as a collective to at
tend the Opening Ceremony.
The cohort then met to conduct
organizational assessments, the
first in a series of free work
shops over 3 months. The les
son plan included topics on
strategic planning, budgeting,
program evaluation, incorpo
ration options and alternatives,
fundraising, marketing, and

The Housing Authority of Savannah has issued a Request
far Qualifications (RFQ) for Faircloth-to-RAD Projects
within the Boundaries of the City of Savannah. The
Agency intends to consider proposals by developers and
owners of multi family real estate who possess the
professional and administrative capabilities to provide the
scope of services detailed within the RFQ documents.
Proposals may be submitted during the last five (5)
business days of each month for a period of six months
beginning January 27, 2023 and ending at 3:00 p.m. on
