Kurds Purtee Appointed to
Nadonal League of Cities’
Public Safety and Crime
Prevention Committee
Kurtis Purtee, Al
derman of Savannah, GA has
been appointed to the Nation
al League of Cities (NLC)
2023 Public Safety and Crime
Prevention (PSCP) federal ad
vocacy committee. Alderman
Purtee was elected to a one-
year term and will provide stra
tegic direction and guidance
for NLC’s federal advocacy
agenda and policy priorities on
public safety issues, including
law enforcement, municipal
hre prevention, natural disaster
preparedness, and homeland
security. The appointment was
announced by NLC President
Mayor Victoria Woodards of
Tacoma, Washington.

mittee. I am excited to once
again bring my 22 years of ex
perience in public safety to the
federal level to be able to rec
ommend policy that will im
pact cities across the nation.”

As a member of
NLC’s PSCP committee, Al
derman Purtee will play a key
role in shaping NLC’s policy
positions and advocate on be
half of America’s cities, towns
and villages before Congress,
with the administration, and at
home.

tool for gathering insights di
rectly from the communities
that our members serve,” said
NLC President Mayor Vic-
Kurtis Purtee
toria Woodards of Tacoma,
Washington. “I am excited to
have Alderman Purtee serve
on the NLC PSCP committee
and look forward to working
with him to ensure every city,
town and village in this nation
has the resources they need to
thrive.”

this year’s committee will
consist of Chair Ras J. Bara
ka, Mayor, City of Newark,
NJ; Vice Chair Rhonda Je
rome, Council Member, City
of North Charleston, SC; and
Vice Chair Brian Kazy, Coun
cil Member, City of Cleveland,
OH.

will celebrate its annual CTBC
- SSU Day on Sunday, Feb
ruary 12, 2023 at 4:00 P.M.
Speaker for the occasion will
be Mr. Harold N. Washington,
President of the Savannah State
University National Alumni
Association. Mr. Washington
is a 1998 graduate of Savannah
State with a Bachelor’s degree
in Business Management. He
also holds a Master’s degree
in Education from Troy State
University and a Specialist de
gree in Educational Leadership
from Valdosta State University.
For 24 years, Mr.
Washington has worked as a
public school educator serving
as Teacher, Coach, Mentor, and
Administrator and is currently
employed as a District Lev
el Coordinator in the DeKalb
County School District.
He is a member of
the Elizabeth Baptist Church in
Atlanta, Georgia and serves on
the Doorkeepers Ministry. His
other affiliations are: Board
of Directors for the Savannah
State University Foundation,
the House of Fire Fitness Cen
ter, and the Grady Hospital Eq
uity, Diversity & Inclusion.
Mr. Washington is a
legacy graduate of Savannah
State as both of his parents are
also graduates of Savannah
State: Mr. Richard Washington,
class of 1956 and Dr. Clemon-
tine F. Washington, class of
1966. He is the proud father
of one son, Christopher. In his
free time, he enjoys traveling
and going to outdoor concerts.
In 1996 Pastor B.
Mr. Harold N. Washington
R. Mitchell, Jr. and a group
of Savannah State graduates
met to discuss how the church
could support Savannah State.
Out of this discussion and
programs over the years, the
idea of an Endowed Scholar
ship originated in 2004. The
annual celebration focuses on
ways the church can unite with
the college to help students be
successful and to raise funds
to continue to support the En
dowed Scholarship. Savannah
State advised that the recipients
of the CTBC-SSU Endowed
Scholarship in 2022 were Alys-
sa Davis of Savannah, GA. and
Taianah Williams of Atlanta
GA. (Dekalb).
The program also
serves as a platform to inform
the public of the many educa
tional opportunities available
at Savannah State. It is open to
the public and all are invited.

The Housing Authority of Savannah has issued a Request
fur QuaLiflcalions (RFQ) lor Faircloth-to-RAD Projeels
within the Boundaries of the City of Savannah. The
Agency intends to consider proposals by developers and
owners of multi family real estate who possess the
professional and administrative capabilities lo provide the
scope of services detailed within the RFQ documents.
Proposals may be submitted during the last five (5)
business days of each month for a period of six months
beginning January £7, 2023 and ending at 3:00 p.m. on
June 30, 2013. Proposals must be delivered Lo the HAS
Administrative Office located at 1407 Wheaton Street
Savannah, GA 3 1404. Electronic access to the RFQ will
be available begilining or Tuesday, December 27, 2022
