Recognition
Retirement Celebration for Rev. Dr. Daniel
Stevenson At Old Georgia Conference
Proud to host the
2022 Georgia Jaycees Year
End Convention in their home
town, the Savannah Jaycees
also received statewide recog
nition for their commitment
to inspire leadership growth
through community involve
ment.
Out of all chapters
in the state, the Savannah Jay
cees were given four awards
total. The chapter received two
project awards: Management
Project Award for their First
Annual Cornhole Tournament
and the Community Develop
ment Project Award for their
Savannah Jaycees Adult Prom.
The Savannah Jaycees were
also awarded the highly covet
ed Chapter of the Year award.
The Savannah Jay
cees current President, Dan
Kamykowski, was also hon
ored as the Georgia Jaycee of
the Year! This is awarded to
the Jaycee in the state who best
exemplifies what it takes to
be a Jaycee and is the person
who has contributed the most
to their local community, their
chapter, and the Georgia Jay
cees throughout the year.
“I am incredibly hon
ored to have received the Jay
cee of the Year award,” says
President Dan Kamykowski.
“I’d like to thank the Georgia
Jaycees for their recognition,
as well as our chapter as a
whole. I am so grateful to serve
alongside such a talented and
dedicated group of individuals.
I look forward to continuing
our great work for the Savan
nah community in 2023.”

Stevenson.
This auspicious occa
sion will honor Rev. Dr. Daniel
Stevenson, Presiding Elder of
the Savannah North District,
in his formal retirement after
serving 43 years, at the close
of the 158th Session of the Old
Georgia Conference. A “Re
tirement Celebration” is being
planned for Sunday, February
12, 2023 (Worship Service -
St. Philip Monumental AME
Church, 3:00 p.m., Bishop
Reginald T. Jackson, Proclaim-
er) and Friday, February 24,
2023 (Formal Banquet ($100)

Over his 43 years
of active service, Elder Ste
venson has a stellar repertoire
of outstanding contributions
which paved the way with
ground-breaking accomplish
ments in many exemplary
“first-time contributions”.
Elder (as he is affectionately
called), will long be remem
bered for furthering theological
education in Savannah and sur
rounding areas.
Dr. Stevenson es
tablished the first accredited
alternative AME K through
12 school in the Old Georgia
Conference. He established the
first ITC Certificate Program
in Savannah and graduated 23
students. He was also instru
mental in bringing the Interde
nominational Theological Cen
ter (ITC) Distance Learning to
Savannah. This program grad
uated eight students with Mas
ter of Divinity degrees. He also
was instrumental in bringing
United Theological Seminary
in Dayton, Ohio to Savannah.
Seven of these students went
on to receive Doctor of Minis
try degrees from United Theo
logical Seminary . Dr. Ste
venson was also influential in
developing a partnership with
Payne Theological Seminary
and Savannah State University.
This partnership resulted in the
Payne Theological Seminary
- Savannah Site where he cur
rently serves as Director.
Dr. Stevenson was
planter and organizer of Trinity
Fountain AME Church (for
mally Trinity AME Church);
the first church to be organized
in the Georgia Conference in
over sixty years. He also served
as the dean of the Sixth Epis
copal District Board of Ex
aminers of the AME Church.
In 2015, he was inducted into
the Turner Theological Sem
inary (AME) Hall of Fame at
ITC and in 2019 he received
an Honorary Doctorate from
Payne Theological Seminary.
All these magnani
mous accomplishments will
not overshadow nor replace
the significant work that Rev.
Dr. Daniel Stevenson has done
during those 43 years, to build
genuine and life-long relation
ships, serving as a mentor, ad
vocate, social justice support
er, and a knowledgeable and
dependable big-brother figure
to many.

The Construct Auxiliary Parking Lot project will consist
of two asphalt surface parking areas. Work includes site
work, drainage, permitting, lighting, landscaping,
fencing, FA A airspace review, security, parking lot access
control and all other items associated with parking lot
construction. The combined lots will need to contain a

Patrick Rossiter, a
former educator and school
principal is announcing his bid
for Savannah Alderman on Fri
day, February 10 in an event
that will begin at 10 a.m. at
Washington Square (Bryan and
Houston Streets).
Rossiter spent 39
years as a local educator, coach
and school principal, 25 years
of which were in the Savan
nah-Chatham County Public
Schools, including serving as
founding principal of the Ty-
bee Island Maritime Academy.
Early on in his career, he estab
lished the Richmond Hill High
School Football Program.

late Frank P. Rossiter, Sr., held
the Post 2 seat when Pat was in
high school.
“I want to carry on
the tradition of public service
established by my family and to
use my extensive background
in education and community
service to benefit the entire city
of Savannah,” says Rossiter.
Rossiter plans a pos
itive campaign to let city resi
dents know his plan to work to
improve their lives but at the
same time, is concerned about
some of the negativity that has
surfaced in terms of city coun
cil meetings and says he wants
to put the “civil” back in city
leadership.

votes of many who know me
and of those who don’t yet
know me and hope my long
standing reputation in this
community will pave the way
to ultimately serve on the city
council,” says Rossiter.
