celebrate their 62nd ‘Brothers
and Sisters Day’ on Sunday,
March 19, 2023. Our theme is:
Traveling by Faith.
There will be a morn
ing worship service at 11:00
a.m. with Ms. Leah A. J. Lloyd,
LPC as our guest messenger.
Ms. Lloyd has an
undergraduate degree in Psy
chology with an emphasis in
Bioethics from Tuskegee Uni
versity and a Master of Edu
cation degree in Community
Counseling, with a certificate
in Marriage and Family Ther
apy from the University of
Georgia.
Ms. Lloyd is a psy-

and international diversity,
equity and inclusion (DEI)
training facilitator. She is a Na
tional Certified Counselor and
Licensed Professional Coun
selor in Georgia and Pennsyl
vania.
Ms. Lloyd is an active
member of Little Bryan Baptist
Church. Her guiding scripture
is Romans 2:8: And we know
all things work together for
good to those who love God, to
those who are called according
to His purpose.

National Youth Advocacy & Resiliency Awards
Parent University’s Michael O’Neal
Parent University’s
Michael O’Neal has been se
lected as this year’s recipient
of the Ron Alt Service Award.
Introduced in 2018, the Ron
Alt Service Award honors the
spirit of selfless service that he
embodied throughout his life.
His work is legendary, and this
award commemorates his great
desire to serve and help foster
the well-being of children and
youth everywhere.
The award was pre
sented at the National Youth
Advocacy & Resiliency Con
ference being held at the Hyatt
Regency. The opening keynote
speaker was Dr. Joe Johnson,
and a reception followed.

On March 19, 2023,
Connor’s Temple Baptist
Church will celebrate 96 years
of serving God and ministering
to humankind. The church was
founded in 1927 and in 1928
moved to its current location.
During this time period, five
pastors have shepherded the
flock. The theme for this year’s
celebration is: “God’s Vision...
Our Future’’.
The messenger for
the 10:00 A.M. Worship Ser
vice will be Pastor Corey B.
Thomas of the New Beria Mis
sionary Baptist Church in Elk-
mont, Alabama. He was born
in Shreveport, Louisiana, grad
uated from Booker T. Washing
ton High School, and served
eight years in the United States
Army (Special Operations
Command) where he received
several Meritorious Service
awards and an honorable dis
charge.
He entered the min
istry at age 15 and began his
ministerial training at Magno
lia Missionary Baptist Church
under the leadership of Rev.
John H. James where he served
as Youth Minister and Chaplain
of the Citywide Youth Con
gress. He became a licensed
Minister in 1987.
While stationed in
Savannah, Georgia in 1993,
he served as the Youth Pastor
and Youth Advisor at the Beu
lah Missionary Baptist Church
and was ordained through the
Mt. Herman Missionary Bap
tist Association in 1998. In
1999 he earned his Bachelor’s
Degree in Theology at Jack
sonville Theology Seminary in
Jacksonville, Florida.
Pastor Thomas has
served in several ministerial
capacities including: Associate
Minister to Pastor Woodrow
Kirby at Big Shiloh Primitive
Baptist Church in Madison, Al
abama; ; Pastored at Bell Prim
itive Baptist Church in Deca
tur, Alabama; and as Chaplain
for the Decatur and Huntsville
Police Department.
In 2010 Pastor Thom
as was elected as Senior Pastor
of New Beria Missionary Bap
tist Church where he currently
serves. He earned a Bachelor
of Science degree in Business
Administration in 2012 at Co
lumbia College (Columbia,
Missouri) and is a Life Mem
ber of Omega Psi Phi Fraterni
ty, Inc.
