(SBAC) is hosting free educa
tional workshops for aspiring
and existing businesses in the
childcare industry. The work
shop series will be offered
virtually every Tuesday eve
ning from 7 pm - 8 pm starting
April 17, 2023, until June 27,
2023.
In collaboration with
Child Care Resource & Re
ferral of Southeast Georgia
and the Small Business De
velopment Center in Valdosta,
GA, this workshop series will
provide tools to help navigate
challenges unique to the child
care industry. The weekly se
ries will feature professionals
and experts covering topics
that include “How to Start a
Childcare Center,” “Finding
the Right Staff’ and “How to
Access Grants & Public Bene
fits”.

provides another opportunity
for SBAC to support expand
ing businesses in Southeast
Georgia’s childcare industry.

Free Child Abuse Awareness Symposium
Coastal Children’s
Advocacy Center (CCAC)
will host a free, all-day child
abuse awareness symposium
entitled “Stand Up.Speak Out.”
on April 14 at Savannah State
University. Registration is re
quested for all attendees.
“We are proud to host
an event that encourages honest
discussions about the realities
of child abuse,” said Executive
Director Rose Grant-Wiseman,
CCAC. “We hope this sympo
sium will provide our commu
nity the information to stand
up and speak out against child
abuse.”
The symposium will
feature two keynote speak
ers, Kevin McNeil and Jenna
Quinn, breakout sessions and
networking and discussion op
portunities. McNeil is a victim
advocate, author and CEO of
the Twel2e Project, an organi
zation that educates the world
on the effects of trauma and
abuse on individuals, fami
lies and communities. Quinn,
a pioneer of the national child
sexual abuse prevention move
ment, is an author, TED speak
er, trainer and the namesake of
Jenna’s Law legislation on the
state and federal level. One
breakout session will feature
Special Agent April Griffith
with the Georgia Bureau of In
vestigation. McNeil will also
host a meet and greet post
event exclusively for Savannah
State University students.
The symposium will
be held at the Savannah State
University Student Union
from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with
breakfast and a catered lunch.
