Bowles Named All
American
Eleik Bowles

cently announced their 14th
annual HBCU Division II All
American Team and Savannah
State University senior for
ward Eleik Bowles was among
those named to the team.
Bowles, who played
in the April 2 HBCU All Star
game in Houston, Texas, was
named to the SIAC All Con
ference First Team in early
March.
During the 2022-23
season, the 6-foot-4 Savannah
native led Savannah State in
nearly every stat this season—
including points, held goals,
three-point held goals, blocks,
steals, and minutes. He fin
ished the year averaging 16.1
points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8
steals per game while shooting
41percent from the held.
Virginia Union for
ward Robert Osborne was
named the HBCU Division II
Player of the Year while Tus-
kegee head coach Benji Taylor
has been named HBCU Divi
sion II Coach of the Year.
DeLoach Enters
Transfer Portal
Savannah native and
Virginia Commonwealth for
ward Jalen DeLoach has en
tered his name in the basketball
transfer portal, according to his
Twitter page.

tic 10 conference tournament
while earning Atlantic 10 all
conference honors this season,
thanked VCU and the coaching
staff for their support during
his two year stay at the Rich
mond, Virgina based school.
“I would love to
thank VCU and Ramnation
for taking a chance on a kid
from Savannah. The relation
ships and bonds I’ve built over
these past two years is some
thing I will remember forev
er. To coach Rhodes and the
staff, I cant thank yall enough
for helping me become a bet
ter man and player.” He also
thanked his teammates and the
VCU fans for their support.
In his two years at
VCU, the 6-foot-9 DeLoach
played in 65 games, drawing 33
starts. He ends his career with
the Rams averaging 19.3 min
utes, 7 points and 5.4 rebounds
per game. DeLoach also had 74
blocks, 52 assists and 43 steals.
After averaging 4.1 points and
3.7 rebounds as a freshman, he
improved his sophomore cam
paign to contribute 9.7 points
and 6.9 rebounds a game.
DeLoach had a ca
reer-high 19 points against St.
Joseph’s on February 21,2023
and grabbed a career-high 13
rebounds against LaSalle on
December 31,2022.
Lewis Honored By
GNAC
Donovan Lewis
Donovan Lewis was
one of two basketball players
from Norwich University hon
ored by the Great Northeast
Athletic Conference for their
play on the court during the
2022-23 season.
Lewis, who is a grad
uate student from Savannah
and is the son of Donovan and
Lynn Lewis, was named to the
GNAC Third Team. Lewis was
also a GNAC Third Team se
lection during the 2021-22 sea
son.
The 6-foot-3 forward
is the sixth all-time leading
scorer in program history, fin
ished his final campaign at Nor
wich at 12th in points per game
with 13.5, while also ranking
12th in held goal percentage
with 49.8 percent. Lewis also
hauled down 6.5 rebounds per
game.
The former Windsor
Forest High School standout
logged double-digits 19 times
this past season, posting a sea-
son-high 24 at Colby-Sawyer
College on Feb. 14. Likewise,
Lewis notched double-digit
rebounds four times, hitting a
season-best 13 twice against
New England College and
Johnson & Wales University.

Championship
Coverage
Agreement
The Southern Inter
collegiate Athletic Conference
(SIAC) and the Black College
Sports Network (BSCN) have
reached an agreement that will
feature 2023 Cricket SIAC
Track and Field, Baseball, and
Softball Championship events.
The Black College
Sports Network (BCSN) will
have the exclusive broadcast
rights to the 2023 Cricket
SIAC Spring Championships
(track and held, baseball, and
softball) events being held in
Albany, GA and Atlanta, GA.
Each event will host a Media
Day prior to the championships
and a Wrap Up Show at the
conclusion of the champion
ships to highlight participating
coaches and student-athletes.
BCSN will kick off
championship coverage show
casing the 2023 Cricket SIAC
Track and Field Champion
ships on the campus of More
house College on April 27-29.

age will continue with the 2023
Cricket SIAC Baseball and
Softball Championships.

at Gordon Sports Complex in
Albany, GA.
Spring champion
ship coverage will conclude
with the 2023 Cricket SIAC
Baseball Championship Tour
nament. The tournament will
feature the top eight teams
from the league and will begin
on Thursday, May 4 and will
conclude with the champion
ship game on Sunday, May 7
on the campus of Albany State
University.
Savannah State’s Jaden Saunders
Named SIAC Golfer Of The Month
Savannah State soph
omore Jaden Saunders was
named the Southern Intercol
legiate Athletic Conference
(SIAC) Golfer of the Month in
a press release from the confer
ence office Monday afternoon.
Saunders shot a stel
lar third round at the 2023 Gulf
Shores Invitational hosted by
the Black College Golf Coach
es Association (BCGCA) last
weekend to lead his team.
He finished with 78
in the third round, after shoot
ing 78 and 81 in the opening
rounds to close with a 236—
his third round finish helped
by a key birdie on 15 and three
straight pars. Savannah State
finished fourth as a team with a
three-round score of 959 (323,
316,320).
The three-round
tournament was played at the
Peninsula Golf & Racquet
Club and featured five HBCU
teams—all of them NCAA Di
vision I squads. Savannah State
was the only team representing
NCAA Division II and the
SIAC.
Kentucky State ju
nior Micah Stangebye was also
named the SIAC Golfer of The
Jaden Saunders
Month. He led his team with 74
in the first round and 76 in the
second to finish tied for third in
the 2023 Klash in Kentucky at
the Perry Park Country Club in
Perry Park, Kentucky.
The Savannah State
men’s golf team will play a
warm-up, dual round with
North Greenville in South
Carolina on April 4 before
heading to the 2023 Cricket
SIAC Men’s Golf Champion
ship Tournament, set for April
17-April 19.
