This training, led by
Senior Manager of Communi
ty Programs, Dan Rowe, and
CEMA’s Emergency Prepared
ness Manager, Chelsea Saw
yer, will focus on implement
ing de-escalation techniques in
faith-based organizations. The
training will also cover safe
ty planning, trauma-informed
dialogue, and identifying in
dividuals at risk of volatile es
calation. The Mediation Center
and CEMA will also provide a
brief overview of their services
so that both organizations can
continue supporting Chatham
County’s faith community.
“As conflict pro
fessionals, we can teach the
community the skills and per
spectives needed to change the
outcomes of dangerous and un
stable interactions with the po
tential for violence. The Medi
ation Center hopes to decrease
violent incidents by increasing
the number of people trained
to de-escalate conflict,” stated
Dan Rowe.
Coastal Georgia Pre
venting Identity Violence is
The Mediation Center’s first
federally funded initiative.
Providing training sessions is
the first step in building aware
ness of the risk factors, skills
for engaging with individuals
facing these risk factors, and
prevention measures for iden
tity-based violence.
The initiative aims to
train and convene local faith
leaders, nonprofit organiza
tions, community and behav
ioral healthcare organizations,
schools, major employers, and
law enforcement partners. Par
ticipation is imperative, to be
successful, a member of each
entity previously mentioned
should attend a training ses
sion. Help us spread the word
by sharing information about
this training and initiative with
your networks. Together we
can create a local prevention
network. To register for the
training session or to have the
content applied to your indus
try, please email Dan Rowe at

In Our Hearts
We thought of you today.
But that is nothing new.
tec We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
/ We think of you in silence,
i We often speak your name.
Now all we have are memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we’ll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart.
