Tiger & Charlie Woods Compete In
PNC Championship Family Tournament
By Tirany Reeves
Tiger Woods (2021)
Charlie Axel Woods
(14) and his father, Tiger
Woods (47), one of the greatest
golfers of all time, competed
in the PNC Championship at
the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in
Orlando, Florida on Decem
ber 14-17th. The PNC Cham
pionship, originally called
the Father/Son Challenge,
pits professional golfers who
have previously won a Major
tournament and their family
members against other familial
teams in 36 holes.
This year marks the
fourth straight year of compe
tition for Team Woods. They
tied for fifth behind winning
the Team Langer made up
of Bernhard Langer and his
son Jason. Team Woods first
joined the competition in 2020
where they finished 7th. The
father-son duo came closest to
a win in 2021 where they came
in second place behind John
Daly and John Daly II. In 2022
they finished in eighth place
with the winners being Vijay
Charlie Woods (2019)
Singh and his son Qass Singh.
This is also the fourth
year that Team Woods has
faced Team Thomas - Mike
Thomas and son Justin Thomas
- the winners of the 2020 com
petition. The two teams have
become very close with the
Thomases allegedly wearing
their 2020 Championship vic
tory belts to the Woods’ home
for Christmas.
The teenage Woods
happened to go viral again
this year for his mannerisms
that are an uncanny match to
his father’s. Fans of the pair
noticed the resemblance when
they first competed as a team in
2020. On December 17th, his
viral moment happened when
he chipped a birdie from the
green and celebrated with his
father’s signature fist pump.
Fans enjoy watching
young Charlie Woods rise in
the golf world and wonder just
how far he will follow in his
famous father’s footsteps.
