The old and silly question: “Isn't it warm ?” is now in order. Mrs. Charlie Spillers of Macon is i.^g relatives in Knoxville. Air. H. D, McCrary visited Macon in the early part of the week. Don’t he afraid you will contribute too much to the public dinner. In this issue Air. J. F. Grace announces himself a coudidate for sheriff. Parties who are hauling crossties gre .as busy as bees around a syrup mill. Dr. C. W. VanVaiben berg of Bibb Co. was in town a short time yesterday. Crops are growing and the farmers smile as though they are .filled with, gladness. Mr. C. T. Blasingame is now engaged with the construction force on the railroad Mr. B. W. Sanford, of Everetts, was in town yerterday shaking hands with friends. Fine rains this week have greatly im¬ proved the appearance of growing vege¬ tation. Dr. Sawyer is no longer a candidate. Gills and boys are generally very friend¬ ly, but there is a little fight between them ip school this week. If tup town should be absolute¬ ly moved, root and branch, to the ,railroad the county cannot afford to allow the road to remain in.,its present eondition. Zach Aultnwra reports that the Farmers Alliance iu his section of the county is growing daily, and is prospering in. every way. Mrs,, Mathews, wife of Mr. Ezekiel Mathews, died at her homo in this, county on t-be 9th inst, She was about seventy five years .of age, and was much esteemed by all who knew her. Mrs. Mathews, wife of -Mr.. J. : Wesley Mathews, of Culloden, died at her, home in. that place last Tuesday. Mrs. Mathews was a daughter of Capt. . W. \ W.
