The Journal's correspondent at Sandy
Point has been unwell for several days

communication from that place.
Judge J. J. Clark was in town a few
days since and reporttd some new candi¬
dates out in his section. A similar report
comes lip from every part of the couuty.
Mr. W. Hi Dent, who had been out
from Macon several days at the bedside of
his son. Josse, who has been very unwell
a week or longer, returned home Tuesday.

Mr. IV. H. Harris of Macon was out
Tuesday, wearing an expression indicative
of fine health and prosperity. Will is one
of our county boys, and one of whom we
have reason to be proud.
Gills and boys are generally very friend¬
ly, but there is a little fight between them
ip school this week. The girls contend
that the horse is more useful than the cow
and the hoys are pulling for beef.

railroad.? If tup town should be absolute¬
ly moved, root and branch, to the ,railroad
the county cannot afford to allow the road
to remain in.,its present eondition.
The. edifor is absent this week*, and it
need not be expected that the. paper will
come fully up to its usual s aixlard. The

able.
Zach Aultnwra reports that the Farmers
Alliance iu his section of the county is
growing daily, and is prospering in. every
way. Ib is in. the , bands of good people
and there is no reason why it shouldTit do
well.
Messrs. E. L.: Aiiltman, Z: T. Aultman
and W. H. O’Neil came up from the Sixth
distiict Saturday and stayed a day or two.
Mr. O’Neil was somewhat disappointed

laugh.

mittee met on Saturday last and appointed

the. nomination for representative and

Mr. L. T. :L^e made a mistake and gave a

mistake, was discovered, Mr. Lee sent in
haste for Dr., Jones who went at once and
relieved the woman.

Mrs,, Mathews, wife of Mr. Ezekiel
Mathews, died at her homo in this, county
on t-be 9th inst, She was about seventy
five years .of age, and was much esteemed
by all who knew her.
Mrs. Mathews, wife of -Mr.. J. : Wesley
Mathews, of Culloden, died at her, home in.
that place last Tuesday. Mrs. Mathews
was a daughter of Capt. . W. \ W. Johnson, y
of this county, and Mr- Mathews was a cit¬
izen of our county until ,a few, years ago

road is progressing finely, at this time.
By the time this paper reaches its readers
Atlanta and Kuoxviile will be united by
iron and other strong ties. . We are right
now on solid ground, and there is no rea¬
son why our town and county should not
go-straight along up the hill.

crowd will be here on that occasion, and
if all will do what they can to that, end, it
