The Old Town Waking Up.
Those who have been knowiug Knox¬
ville for ten, twenty or forty years, and
have never seen any particular signs ol
advancement, have become to believe tha'
nothing short of a miracle can transform
the quiet little town into a busy, pushing
embryo city. But the change is going on,
and almost imperceptibly she is moviug
forward to an era of enterprise which will
become apparent-in a short while. A
change is- taking place, and all the forces
which have lain dormant for years are be¬
ing brought into action and the old place
is beginning a new life. In a few week.
our local cotton market will open and new
stores will also, open-. A number of enter¬
prises are now on foot,, and soma of them
are hound to live.
No town in this section of the State has
a batter local territory than this, aud good
business men arc taking advantage of, the
natural advantage offered
Knoxyillg is .bound to come.. It can be
kept down,no longer. Good business, men
of t-is-county and strangers-who, learn of
our natural advantages- will not-,, let the
trads.of Abe,town go down, but wijl em¬
brace the opportunity which the tioig and
ci veu®stances offer.,
