BABBITT METAL For Sale at the Journal Office. Col. Robert Burner, of Forsyth, was in town during the week. Col. Rolby D. Smith is attending Taylor superior court at Butler. Hr. A. J. Dauielly spent some time this week iu the Central City, Mrs. F. H. Wright has been quite sick recently, but is recovering. Mr. Hugh Bankston is the happiest man in Goshen Valley—it is a hoy. Z. T. Harris is having built another four room dwelling on Main street. J. II. Nolan is selling furniture cheaper than it can be bought iu Macon. The vote on Wednesday was so light that the result is not worth telling. Mr. and Mrs. Z. T. Harris have been spending some time in Thomastun, Mr. Howard Persons, a popular young man of Cuilodeu was in town Sunday Dr. Geo. L. Sawyer visited Atlanta last Saturday on business connected with his profession. Captain Ed Artope is down with fever in Macon but his men are pushing the work on the jail. Col. 0. P. Wright made a business trip to Cuilodeu a day or two ago, and reports Unit town fairly booming. Col. M.*G. Bayne, of the Central City, was in town the first of the week looking after some professional business. Messrs. W. H. Dent, Henry Ray, Bob TV right, B. B. Ray, Homer Wright and J. R. Wilson, all of Macon, were in town Sunday. When you go to Atlanta stop at the Taimadge House, opposite custom house on i.orlh side. We find this one cf the best places in the Gate City. Captain Williams Rutherford, a promi¬ nent citizen of the northern portion of the county, was in town Tuesday shaking hands with his many friends. The family of our former townsman, W. li. Dent, have returned to Knoxville to make it their future home. Mr. Dent will remain in Macou for some time to come. It is said that the. Alliancemcn will hold a jubilee at Fort Valley soon. They in¬ tend to form a procession of wagons loaded with cotton about a mile long, so rumor says. The Alliance in this county is setting i nto its ranks the most substantial farmers. It is t,o be hoped that these good men will design plans that shall bring about better times. J esse Dent has become the most enter¬ prising trader in live slock in the county. He has actually traded dogs seven times this week and received four puppies and two dog blocks as boot. Ordinary’s court on Mond ly.
