A Card.
To my .friends In Crawford county*:. I
feel -that.in iustice to yon I’ must publicly
announce the fact that Ii cannot open a
store at Knoxville as I thought of doing.
Circumstances are such that I find it,expe¬
dient to remain in Macon for another year.
You can still find me with the Old Re¬
liable Clothing House, of D. J. Baer, Cor,
Cherry.niwtThird streets, Maeon, Ga.

Come to Stay,
Knoxville has become a cotton market
at last. We .have had a few home buyers,
but they hnve had no previous experience
in buying cotton and only bought for the
benefit of the town.
j But we now have a regular buyer who
has had years of experience in the .business
and would rather buy one thousand bales
than one hundred. He also has ,the money
with him, and can cash hi* purchases as he
taakes them.
This gentleman is buying for Inman &
Co. the largest cotton dealers in the south
and there is now all reason to believe that
our market will be equal to any in Middle
Georgia. _•

that age I want you to send him round if

Yesterday was what may he termed
Cotton Day at Knoxville. The farmers
who wished to see a good cotton market
at ,hfa place all brought in a tew bales
each, and the result was generally satis¬
factory. Our merchants have bageing on
hand and it is offered at 12$, which is the
wholesale price it) Atlanta.
Eighty-eight bales were sold yesterday
morning at prices ranging from 8 1-4 to
9 cents. This would have been the price
of the same cotton in Atlanta, freight sub¬
tracted, and this is as much as can he
expected of any market.
